forums upgrade 21/4/2012 (this Saturday)

The forums software will be upgraded to the latest version with lots of nice new features this coming Saturday.

Doing this will require the forums to be taken off-line for a while - approximately 1 hour - during Saturday morning.

There's still a few minor issues that I need to resolve around this upgrade so it's possible that the forums will come back online without all of the features and functionality which exist currently, and those will be restored over the following hours or perhaps days.

Apologies for any inconvenience that might be caused by this.

I can't give an exact time when the forums will go offline, but it's likely to be in the next 30 to 60 minutes.

the forums are now back online, and the major parts of the upgrade are complete.

I still have to fiddle around with a few bits and pieces to get everything working as it should.

When I first log in via the iPhone app it brings up the full desktop version of the forums and I have to zoom in to get the one I want.

After that it's fine, all the forums are in the mobile format, as is the main forum directory when I come back out of say the download forum to go into the soni one...

That link still brings me to the mobile version. I use Opera Mini but I tried on my phones browser and the same thing. In general I dont mind the mobile version but you cant tell when someone has quoted a post. It is all in red with no breaks so you cant tell where the quote starts and finishes.

I've just tried it on my phone, and the same is happening to me.

There's built-in device recognition within the forums software, which is designed to direct first-time users to the appropriate skin - but that's been there a while and didn't cause this problem previously. I can only guess that they've changed something about it in this software release.

I'll go and look for a solution right now.

If you try using the 'full version' link at the bottom of the mobile skin now, it should hopefully load the standard skin - it's certainly working as it should be on my phone now.

I've got to put the customisations back within it, as I had to lose the ones that were there to fix the problem. So you might notice some minor changes (a few links, colour changes, etc) to it in the next hour or two.
