There's stars under your name in the top left next to your avatar. if you click on them, you can rate someone else, and how far along yellow it is is an average of how everyone else has rated you.

To the right, there's a box with a number and a rating, so you're '65 excellent' in green because it's positive. Barry Fish by comparison, is '-68 bad' in red, because it's negative.

You're a brave man kaosmark2 I'll give you that. I'm not sure you are aware of the depths of buffoonery I can invoke in matters like this. All I can see is stars to the right of my avatar which indicate 5 stars. However these aren't yellow. Does this mean the 5 stars haven't actually been ' activated' yet one way or the other (does that make any sense he wonders). If it's any consolation I can see the 65 thingy.

I guess it means that noone's rated you yet.

Thanks for the clarification. I just didn't know the lie of the land. I don't mind nobody rating me on the star front. That said, I prefer to be in the green on the ratings front. Not because I want to be liked especially, more to do with the fact that it's satisfying that on occasion I actually say something which resonates with somebody else. Is that a contradiction in terms he wonders. Anyway, thanks once again. I do have another technical question which has been bugging me for ages. Are you in a position to try to assist or would you like me to leave it for another time? No worries if the later.

aye, it looks like the stars are the average of what people have rated you as. i'm currently at 4, but not really that bothered. i talk a lot of shite sometimes, and I am generally a grumpy old man, so I'm surprised i havent been negged a bit more, especially by the soni forum users!

Who are these mysterious people who rate others though? I've never rated anyone in my life on here (apart from to give Barry Fish 1 star when I discovered it of course) and it wouldnt occur to me to do such a thing.

I think we need to understand the way these peoples mind works, then we can adjust our posting style/topics accordingly to appeal to the raters, and really push on to become 5 star posters.

Then our lives will truly be complete.
