kipper64
They're meant to be doing a bunch of secret shows over the next few weeks in Europe to promo new material. So I think it could possibly be legit (the pics are from a japanese green day fansite so most likely legit). Obviously they aren't going to do a full headline set, but if they're around they could do a short set on NME or something like Them Crooked Vultures did in 2010. Secret show in London on weds/Thursday, secret show at Reading on Friday. Rock En Seine on Sunday. A few other secret shows across europe, then back to LA for the 6th of September which is the MTV VMAs
rug568
that would be cool. although i doubt they would play hits, and their new stuff is shit. it reminds me of fall out boy
kipper64
I imagine they'll play the 3 released singles + a few others from the new albums, then maybe a couple of hits. But if it is indeed a secret set, it's probably only going to be like 45 mins to an hour set I'd guess, so it's not going to be a full packed headline set. kipper64
Friday lock up secret set? Seeing as Sunday has 13 bands and Mongol Horde already, the secret set would surely be Friday this time around?

rug568
Green Day in the lock up would be pretty special.
mrtourette
No way would they do that. People would die.
mrtourette
The only spot I could see is if ATDI only get an hour and they run with an 11-band schedule like the Maccabbees day, with only 10 announced at the moment. But even then Green Day in that tent would be crazy.
kipper64
Maybe they're trying to prove they've gone back to their roots..by playing the punk tent Stereoboard posted a Green Day video a few hours ago and someone asked them if they'd heard anything about the Reading/London show(s) next week and they said "When there's smoke, there's fire". So that throws a bit more weight behind it too I guess.

jonnyisRFC
If it is legit, you'd think FR would have announced it straight away because that would have definitely shifted tickets.

Mouseboy11
I don't think I'd bother watching them anyway. It'll be shite off the new album.
rug568
i would happy stand through their new stuff on the off chance of them playing When I Come Around
kev1664
I'd be disappointed wit a secret set at reading and not Leeds, however it would depend who they would clash with. So the info that Neil got from his green day contact earlier in the year and the conflicting info from a reliable source could have both been true. I.e. they wernt headlining but were actually playing stands to reason why these two pieces of info could both be true from reliable sources! Andy_47
I just wanna know whats going on before I leave for Leeds. Honestly if my favourite band on the planet were playing Reading and not Leeds it would probably ruin my whole weekend Fingers crossed its a wee MTV gig or something to invited family and friends or whatever and not an actual gig. I couldn't handle the disappointment if I couldn't go.
kipper64
If it's a secret gig, then it can't really be announced. Hence why it wouldn't have been. And from the looks of things (if it is true) it was probably a very last minute decision, hence why some of the tour t-shirts don't have the date on them, I'm guessing they were printed at different times. I'm guessing they were approached (or approached Reading) as they planned on doing a secret gig in London, but seeing as they're around till Sunday when they need to go to France, a second show at a nearby festival to generate hype makes some sense. eFestivals
So the info that Neil got from his green day contact earlier in the year and the conflicting info from a reliable source could have both been true. not at the time they couldn't. The info I had about September arena dates also came with the words that they defo weren't doing R/L. And it's also the case that GD info doesn't come any better sourced than what I had about the September arena dates & no R/L. As it seems pretty clear that that info is now not correct (because dates are very likely to have been announced by now if it was happening), I'm as certain as I ever can be that plans must have changed with that - because I'm 100% certain that the info I had at the beginning of the year was 100% accurate at that time. 6daviesdr
but also adding to the fact that angels and airwaves and all time low are both the supports on their tour dates in europe with them both being at the festival. makes me wonder how long this has actually been in play for.
