Places to stay offsite

Anyone know of affordable hotels or campsites within 8 miles of the site? Dont know the area at all so any information would be welcome

Got a day ticket for saturday and want somewhere to stay within 2 - 3 mile walk or upto 8 mile taxi drive.

I'm not too sure but, on the way to the park we drove past a hotel. Think it was called Ham & Eggery (sp)

Most of the accommodation that close to the site is already booked and block booked by crew etc etc, especially in Chelmsford. You could go out to Witham - around 10-12 miles I guess - and you can get the shuttle bus then a 10 minute train journey - there is a pub there (basic) called the White Hart where they should have rooms available, as I said basic, but would do the job - and only around 55.00 a night for the room for 2 with breakfast - sure there are more in the Witham/Rivenhall/Boreham area - they are opposite way to London from Chelmsford so people don;t tend to think of there.
