godiva

My band "driven like the snow" are playing the acoustic stage again this year, and hopefully the rhythm tent if we get through the godiva unsigned heats. Pigeon detectives is a pretty disappointing headliner, but to be fair there's always at least a few decent bands lower down on the bill. I'm hoping we get either the primitives again (as they have a new album out) or someone like neville staples specials.

Went yesterday for the first time in years, well got cancelled last yr due to floods.

But have to say for a free festival they outdid themselves.

Line up was brilliant, everyone seemed to be having a brilliant time, sound quality was fantastic throughout.

Stayed on main stage mostly, Maximo Park were an inspired booking and jesus did they SMASH it, these guys deserve to be much bigger, Revered and The Makers were quality early on in the day, so much much energy and really got things going and thought The View put in a top performance too.

Craddock of OCS was dull as hell I will say and just a lifeless performance, closing on Riverboat Song was a glimpse of what the set could have been but he just did solo stuff that went down like a lead balloon and the woman in his band is annoying as hell.

Will say The Sixty Fours were impressive for a band I didn't know but they started to drag as their set went on.

And Concrete Knives from France were shocking IMO, very poor and I don't know why they were booked.

Mallory Knox put in a decent performance, their fan base of 14-16yr olds seemed to love them but I think they're average as hell.

I'll say it again tho Maximo were breathtaking, they've grew so much as a band over the years and played a set full of singles which sounded crisp and fresh as ever, perfectly executed, they also played 2 new songs, the first was dripping in quality, it sounded amazing, the second kinda passed me by and to be honest was probably the worse song of the set, but I'd defo go watch them on tour. And the Revs.

Also saw Neville Staple, who to be honest, kinda phoned it in, and was a bit disappointing, but his band were great

Yeah went yesterday too, had a great day. Thought the atmosphere was lovely (something in some past years hasnt in my opinion). Agree on Reverand too, thought they were ace, really want to dislike them, but seen them 3 times now and everytime they've impressed. Craddock sucked. As expected. The view rocked, and yeah Maximo Park blew it away. Great day and for free. Hats off to the organisers to be fair

Went yesterday. Agree with both the above as well. Enjoyed The Fallows a lot. Always enjoy Rev & Makers and you guys were spot on about Maximo Park. So professional and their experience showed. Hopefully the new album will get them back in the limelight -they deserve it - and seem like good guys to boot. Lee Thompson's Ska Orchestra were spot on. Weather helped lots and the atmosphere was much more chilled than some previous years. Perhaps the ID checking was better as there seemed to be way less pissed up kids.

I was in the tent for Neville Staple, got a nice spec, went to get me and me pal a drink and when I got back the tent was rammed and a massive queue had formed and I couldn't get back in! Blast! So went back to me other pals and caught some of the concrete knifes. Seemed ok to be fair, they were the French ones right?
