Well that will make me think twice about turning up on a Weds again...or will it. We met a great bunch in black and all camped together. Linked three gazebos with gaffa tape and had a party in the rain with various neighbours (who were all excellent). Gazebos did get blown away mind you (as did some tents) but we managed a salvage job with the last of the gaffa tape on one and a half, which then got trashed by the wind again anyway. No matter because breakfast beer, vodka shots and a bit of grit saw us through. Load of thieving bastards robbed three of our tents and surrounding ones but that only called for more vodka in the morning!

Not a lot the organisers could have done about the mud because its raining on fields. Mind you they could have put metal roads through the village and thought more about direct routes from car parks to camping and from camping to the Arena rather than making us trudge everywhere in a circular route through more mud. Feet are f*cked because of that although thankfully trusty boots kept them dry..

Feel absolutely knackered but already thinking where to go next..have had an invite to a festival in Spain..perhaps the weather would be better there?

Got back a few hours ago after doing Fri-Monday. The mud completely fucked up my plans for the Friday, took nearly 3 hours to get from being dropped off in the car park to getting all the stuff down to a stable campsite + tent set up. By the time we made the long trek back to the arena, it was halfway through Nightwish, having missed most of the acts we wanted to see.

Barely rained after we arrived though, a couple of short showers, with supposedly some overnight, but the mud did dry out over the weekend. It was baked solid by this morning. Very glad I didn't get head there earlier in the week, I'm absolutely knackered and if I'd been doing that more I wouldn't have had much energy left. Still absolutely worth it though.

It took me 2 hours on Weds with kit on my back and beers/tent in hands, walking in the rain from west car park (the furthest end of the furthest field down a little forest track grrrrrr) to black camp site. But hey....I got some exercise so can't be all bad!

Was I the only one who didn't think it was that bad? I got there on the Friday so missed the worst of it and yes it was pretty hellish walking from the car park through the village to the campsites etc. And the village was a swamp on Friday night so we just headed back to the tent straight away. But Saturday and Sunday were absolutely fine other than a few bad patches where the campsites met each other.

We camped in yellow which was stupidly far away (over an hour from West car park) but it was worth it since it was pretty much the only place that wasn't muddy since they only opened it up on Friday morning. I never go back to the tent in the day anyway so didn't care that much and partying in the village after the bands have finished helps break up the walk.

Don't really know what the organisers could have done really. They delayed the opening of the arena as long as they possibly could, put down sawdust etc. Although I was suprised they didn't put down those metal walkways on the campsite roads like they do in Reading (although in all honesty I don't think it would have helped that much).

Obviously feel for all the people who got there on Wed though but hearing that there were some who actually packed up and left? Come on, it's a festival you have to expect conditions could be like this...

Yeah, i arrived friday so didn't get rained on over the weekend (other than cups of piss :D). The traffic chaos friday wasn't the best but like gjammer said, it's only a bit of exercise. :D The walk wasn't that bad. Just hard walking past the pubs without going in. :D
