From 12 noon 'til 12.30am on Sunday and 12 noon 'til 1.30am on Monday

The Trades Club is 30! To celebrate we're gathering together some of the bands and djs that have helped shape the club and throwing an almighty two-day birthday party.

All monies raised will be used to buy monitor speakers, this is the first step in replacing our PA with a new one to see us well into the future.

Sunday 3rd June

£3 suggested donation after 8pm

12-2pm Gary Boyle and Roger HigginsA Ry Cooder/jazz style duo. Gary started off with Dusty Springfield's band and has played with everyone form Julie Driscoll to Soft Machine, via a residency at Ronnie Scott's. He formed jazz fusion band Isotope and teaches at Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and other colleges.

2.30pm Fez

Les Gillon's Fez are more than just a blues band. They are an institution. Fez played at the brand new Trades Club in 1982, before the wiring was fully functional, quite an experience!

4pm Creedy

From Landing Party to Maghribibeat Creedy has been a frequent flyer at the Trades Club for many years. Hear tracks from his latest solo venture.

5pm Maia

First played here at an Unthanks after show. They call their unusual sound disco sc i-fi folk pop. Why? Because even they don't know how to describe it. Rising stars of festivals and frequently played on Radio 6.

6.30-7.30pm Mini Cabaret with Bernard Otter and the Neal Alexander Magic Show'

8-12.30am PAST, PRESENT and into the FUTURE

Celebrating 30 years of music at the Trades with dj's from some of our favourite nights. Sundays inadvertently turned into a bit of a Beatherder sampler – just shows our djs don't half get about! The night kicks off at 7.30 with a John Peel-esque set, followed by Red Tin Dave (Duende/Perfume Garden) playing cosmic Americana and then Slackears (Chapter 4/Bushrocker HiFi) with a hefty dollop of reggae! The night closes with sets from Fraser then Annie (Country Club/Trailer Trash). Need we say more……

Tonight will see the return of 'The Tombola of Tat'! If you missed it last time (at Alices Adventures down the Rabbit Hole) you have to experience it! This time its bigger, better, brighter….. and with more quality tat than ever before! Every ticket wins a prize so you can't loose and you'll have a 1 in 3 chance of winning a music cd, and to delight you further this time you could even win a spin on our new Wheel of Fortune!

Monday 4 June

£4 suggested donation after 8pm

12-2pm Brouhahha

Brand new Manchester based band, formed early this year and played one of their first gigs at the Trades Club. Influenced by jazz, folk and rock, this is a band for the future.

2.30pm Will Kaufman: ALL YOU JIM CROW FASCISTS!" WOODY GUTHRIE'S FREEDOM SONGSWill explores Woody Guthrie's anti-racist songs and activism. Conventionally known for his championing of the poor white Dust Bowl migrants, Guthrie also left an extensive body of songs condemning Jim Crow segregation, race hatred and racial fascism. Most of these songs were never recorded, but they are the legacy of Guthrie's own personal transformation from a casual Oklahoma racist in his youth to a committed civil rights activist working and singing with the likes of Lead Belly, Sonny Terry, Brownie McGhee and Paul Robeson in the 1940s and 50s. "All You Jim Crow Fascists!" is both a harrowing and uplifting presentation, showing through the example of Woody Guthrie that racists are not born, but made – and that they can be unmade.

4pm Steve Tilston & Becky Unthank

BBC Folk Awards Original Song Writer of the Year in March. About time too, Steve has been playing and writing songs for 40 years and is regarded as among the best guitarist on the UK circuit too. He regularly brings the best UK and US singer songwriters to the club, most recently Wizz Jones, guitar hero to Clapton, Richards et al.

5pm The Future of live music

Several young performers to with 2/3 songs each. The Trades Club has always supported young musicians, so it is naturally part of the birthday celebrations.

6.30pm Owter Zeds

We couldn't celebrate our birthday without the Owter Zeds – formed for a one off Miners benefitin 1984 ansd still going strong. This is the band most associated with Hebden Bridge and the Trades Club, an institution.

8pm-1.30am More Past, Present and Future -

Banish your hangover / Bank holiday blues with another jam packed dj night. This evening kicks off with Lady Miss LoveCat (People Get Ready/ Hanuman Gallery) and HRH the Pernickity Bint (Mental Elf / Scorpio Sessions) playing their own selection of random ticklish allsorts – expect the eclectic! Next up is Anthony Ellis (Automatique) picking up the pace with an amazing house set, then assuming Barefoot Mo makes it back on time (he's joining us fresh from playing at Knockengorroch) he'll be bringing us some drum n bass! That just leaves Scott (Hub) to close the evening playing whatever he wants!!!
