The Nal
I have to laugh at people thinking that Portugal would exit the group with zero points, when in fact it was Holland. I reckon the odds on that would have been excellent - does anyone know what they were? Edited June 18, 2012 by The Nal
eFestivals
Walcott, Ox, Welbeck were hardly being touted as world beaters and they've been good. I'd hope to see Ox on the left tomorrow given Young's dreadful performance on Friday - at least Ox knows what defending is about. But I reckon Woy will go with Young, because his scoring record has been good and because he should link up well with Rooney and Welbeck. Walcott got to show what a huge mistake Postman Pat made two years ago by leaving him out. He might not be the world's best or most consistent player but he's a game-changer and England don't have anyone else who can do that. kaosmark2
Would you start with Milner knowing a draw would see you through? Or do you go all out attack and try and avoid Spain by coming top of the group. I would start conservatively by playing Milner but look to change it earlier rather than later in the 2nd half if we are struggling to create anything. To be fair, although England were poor in parts against Sweden had Stevie G scored his open goal and the Terry scored his header we would be looking at different headlines although none of that covers up the fact England can't keep the ball for mor then 20 seconds..... I'd start with Milner on a "better safe than sorry" basis, because he's far better than Walcott for the defensive side of things. Not only that, I'd hope that Milner would have a more effective game than he did the other night too. He's generally better than that. thesecretingredientiscrime
I'd be pretty confident Roy wouldn't play for a draw. If the last couple of games have shown anything, it's that anything is possible in Euro's, purely because of the tight margins (no euphamism). What happens if England play for the draw, Ukraine get a goal and sit behind the ball?
pink_triangle
Roy wont play for a draw but in the postion they are Im sure he will take a safety first plan and wont take many risks. I think tactics may be adapted depending on what is happening in both games but the main gameplan will be keep it tight and see what happens. I suspect Walcott will only be used if England are in a position where they depserately need to score to either come from behind or overtake France. LondonTom
Yeah I'd also keep things as they are aside from Rooney, if Young doesn't work well with Rooney..well then yeah we can drop him from the starting line up. Saying that I'd be tempted to leave Rooney on the bench, let him out at half time or something. Seems a bit harsh saying despite you guys working well, we're going bring back a player who was suspended as his place is guaranteed no matter what. And yeah Walcott can make more of an impact as a game changing sub with the current set of players plus it means he has less pressure on him which can only help. pink_triangle
To me England dropping Rooney would be like Portugal not recalling Ronaldo, Italy not recalling de rossi or Croatia not recalling Modric in the same circumatances. If you are a squad lacking in top quality players, you have to pick your best player under almost any circumstance. if it doesnt work its a risk worth taking. the_hedge
I think Walcott may well have damaged his England career more then he enhanced it the other night. Will he be seen as an impact player now? I would defo start with Ronney. Him and Welbeck up front and beacuse of the United connection start with Young as poor as he was the other night. I would swap him for the Ox at half time if he goes missing again though, don't wait until half way through the second half.

eFestivals
walcott has been declared fit for tomorrow. Can only see him getting on the pitch if we're in need of him tho - otherwise I reckon he'll be given the extra time to the next game to rest. Ed209
Oh I get why you would, and if you look at it on a purely logical basis, what else could do you do? But I dunno the team was a bit scrappy at times, but sometimes a bunch of players with team spirit and a little bit of luck is what you need rather than the best. I'd say that's fairly important given he hasn't got a lot of quality to combine with!
kaosmark2
What the fuck is wrong with Croatia fans? Why would they still throw flares on after the problems it caused last time?

pink_triangle
Interesting half, Italy started slow but really came on towards the end. Spain game a bit dull from what I have seen, but with current scores Croatia will have to open up. Mad to think Spain are a goal away from going out. Also funny if the scores stay the same, that England, France and Ukraine will be aiming for 2nd.
