kaosmark2
I remember seeing ยฃ18m quoted somewhere, but I'm sure Porto claimed 30m euros as well. Either way, he's not justified it.

eFestivals
Really? I'm pretty sure at the exchange rate back then that would have been ~ยฃ24m. I remember it being ~1.25 back in 2008 and the transfer happened summer 07. it was up around the 1.40 level at a point somewhere close to summer 07 if I'm remembering rightly. It dropped to around 1.25 after the pound was devalued, which was at some point after the Northern Wreck thing (which was aug/sep 07). That still doesn't make ยฃ17M = euros30M, but it puts them closer together. Edited July 24, 2012 by eFestivals

eFestivals
30/18 is 1.7 though, I'm sure it wasn't that high. no, it wasn't. I don't think the rate has ever got over 1.50 (tho if it has, it hasn't been by much). But a difference in rate from 1.25 to 1.40 still makes a fair difference to how close those two different currency values are from each other. TheGayTent
Who fucking cares about the fee - surely we can all agree whether it was 15, 20, or even 25 whole English pence, Anderson has been a complete flop!

thetime
Joey Barton could serve his ban quicker at a championship side, this is just wrong in my view. They will start league campaign sooner and also have cup games earlier aswel. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18971248

pink_triangle
To me the Bebe signing was worse than the Anderson one. The former made no sense to me at the time, there is no chance he will come good and he was always going to be flopped. Anderson made perfect sense but just hasnt worked out. I have been surprised about the lack of movement at Man City. The squad looks premiership ready but I cant see it doing much in europe again. I think the champions league should be more excting this year. Man City and Dortmund should be better than last season, I look forward to seeing Juventus back and PSG could benefit from a weaker domestic league. thetime
with tim cahill going hes got to be one of the biggest bargains in the premier league era. Who else would you consider great bargains. cantona 1.2m
thetime
It's OK, you've only got a large number of overpaid players past their prime when they weren't that good to begin with, and a manager who tends to pay fairly high transfer fees and excessive wages.... Shouldn't really be in danger of relegation at least. Main worry has to be wages as 80% of turnover.
kaosmark2
Nice to see newcastle fans getting over cocky after one good season, its newcastle and your bound to fuck it up and be in the bottom 6 this season. strummer77
Swear I saw a breakdown a few years back of hy it worked out as ยฃ25m, though most recent thing I can find is the fee here http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-uniteds-anderson-ready-to-justify-1143955 Never mind. Point was I suppose that you win some, you lose some. It's a tough game without the benefit of hindsight.
