He was unlucky with injuries but I would question if he worked hard enough to overcome them. You notice in football certain players seem to work harder than others. With Owen I never got the impression that football is the be all and end all. Will probably make it easier for him to make the transition on retirement.

Nailed on. Can't bring myself to make a barb at him today, was my hero as a kid and was phenomenal for the first few years. Hope he enjoys the racecourse!

I feel the same, he seems to have had a good reputation from being at wba but I am not sure how that has translated into him getting jobs. He hasn't been anywhere long enough to make a good judgement. Wba must be the place to be to get a reputation. Dan ashworth seemed to get the same boost and got the fa job on the back of it. Then again I thought ashworth was in charge of recruitment, so not sure how this translates to intentional football
