However in my opinion the rules are incorrect and should allow punishment for dangerous tackles like this. However you cant change the rules half way through the season. Out of interest did newcastle (or any other premiership side) complain about the rule before the season began? Im all for punishing tackles like this but as others have said when you bring in retrospective punishment for this, theres a danger its use could end up being extended for less serious incidents. I also think incidents like this demonstrate how the officials need fo grow some balls and not hide behind referees all the time. I thought they were mean to be assistant referees now and not just checking for offside decisions.

Suarez off then? Basically said if any team in the Champions League comes in for him he'll listen to offers.

And LFC coming out with the "lost in translation" thing really nails it. Happens every time.

Also, the FIFA manager of the year vote seems to have been fixed. Mourinho claiming so anyway and now Goran Pandev claims he voted for Mourinho but when the list came out it showed him as having voted for Del Bosque.

Player says he's interested in hearing offers from other bigger clubs? That's never happened before.

Not even at your own club.

Nah some of the clubs mentioned aren't "bigger" than Liverpool.

bigger was perhaps a poor choice of word by me. Take it as me saying "a better opportunity" instead.

Just about every player wants to play for the best they can get out of biggest clubs, biggest competitions and best opportunities (on a subjective basis).

Which is why you lost skippy, for example.

It it happens with Suarez it won't be any surprise and nor will be be any particular slur on Liverpool, merely a recognition by Suarez that (from his personal perspective) he can be in a better place.

But thats my point, same thing happened in all cases. Lost in translation, denials etc. This seems to be following course too.

It's difficult to judge of course, but there's reason to think that there's more chance of Suarez sticking with Liverpool than there was in many of those other names you mentioned.

I think i'm right in saying he's only very recently signed a new contract - which generally gets to mean the player sticks around for a year at least from then.

Also, from what I've read about what Suarez said, he was 100% complimentary about Liverpool whilst still expressing his desire to play in the biggest competitions (so him saying that desire might simply be honesty - he was asked a question, and gave an honest reply).

And finally, Liverpool is clearly going in the right direction with new players - Sturridge, Coutinho - rather than struggling to stay in the same place, which has been the case with the Arse.

I wouldn't be surprised if Suarez left in the summer - after all, he's one of the best players in Europe, but playing for a team a notch down from his level - but I wouldn't be surprised if he gave it another season either. The club is going in the right direction, and he seems to be aware that it is.

It'd be a disaster for Liverpool if they lost him this summer of course. They'll have difficulty getting another player of his quality.

Whatever else about him, he just wants to win. At all costs seemingly. Hes a footballer first.

he's the hardest working player I can ever remember seeing on a pitch - he's making Kuyt look like he was spending his time on a sunlounger.

Meanwhile, Sturridge is already reverting to the lazy-arse he was at previous clubs, after just a couple of games where he put in a decent shift of work himself.

If Sturridge carries on like that I wouldn't be surprised to see Suarez chin him on the pitch.

Maybe he signed the new contract to give Liverpool a higher transfer fee this summer? I.e, he likes and wants to give something back to the club. Just not his goals at the level Liverpool are at.

it'd certainly give them a higher transfer fee, but I suspect that's something Liverpool will have no interest in however high it might be.

While he might have signed it fore that reason, I'm sure that's not how the club will see it, so I'm sure that'll use the new contract to exert as much leverage on him to stay as they possibly can.

Nothing of that guarantees he'll stay, but I do think the club are in about the strongest position they could be to try and get him to stay for another season at least.
