Stop me if you have heard this before. Feckless players are responsible for Queens Park Rangers’ inevitable relegation. The board, and specifically owner Tony Fernandes, must accept the consequences of a ruinous financial gamble. Henry James Redknapp is innocent, OK?

If titles were won by the avoidance of blame and the absence of any sense of accountability, the QPR manager would be overwhelmed by the trinkets of fame. He’d need to hire an aircraft hanger at Heathrow, just down the road from the training ground, to store his awards.

Redknapp is the security guard who hears a noise in the dead of night and has a brisk wander around the premises to see what’s what, but makes sure he’s back in time for the kettle to boil. When the theft is subsequently discovered his instinct is to blame his employers for not purchasing a sufficiently sophisticated alarm system.

To be fair, QPR are a club that has been institutionally insecure since promotion to the Premier League under Neil Warnock. Fernandes has employed three managers in two seasons. They have used a total of 48 players in the Premier League: 29 have been utilised this year; the other 19 were adjudged to be surplus to requirements.

Redknapp has averaged precisely a point from each of his 20 games, which is relegation form, regardless of the flawed recruitment programme undertaken by his predecessor Mark Hughes. He has improved QPR’s position relative to only one rival, Reading, who are also going down.

Redknapp weakens his own case by arguing: “There’s not a lot you can do, you can’t change the way people are.” I assume he is referring to the lack of will demonstrated by some of the players he has inherited, who have short-changed the QPR directors and, more importantly, supporters.

But he is the manager. As it relates to him, he might care to look up the Oxford Dictionary definition of the term: “A person responsible for controlling or administering an organisation or group of staff.” The key word there is responsible. Redknapp cannot blithely pass the buck. He has not done nearly enough to justify his reputation.

The best coaches are teachers and educators. They get nowhere by demeaning their students, however tempting it is to round on multi-millionaire journeymen whose self-absorption makes them liabilities. Redknapp’s rant after the weekend’s defeat at Everton will have reduced the respect in which he is held.

If anything goes wrong at Loftus Road on Saturday, when the desperation of visitors Stoke will give the game an ominous edge, expect those players to go through the motions. It won’t be pretty, or professional. But it will be, in some way at least, Redknapp’s fault.

I kind of get the impression that arrys heart isn't in it. If he was more flexible about where he would work he may not have taken the qpr job and waited for a better offer. I agree with most of what the article says, when he took over his media mates all said he would keep them up, he has never looked like he will. We have heard for years what an amazing motivator he is, but most qpr players have looked just as indifferent with or without him. He had a huge financial advantage over relegation rivals but hasnt made the most of it. Samba is possibly the worse signing of the season and his claim qpr will make a profit on him is bonkers.

I hope everton really go for it against arsenal today. At times they are way too cautious against the big sides. I see today game as everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Less than 5 years since we won the cup and tonight we have been relegated to League 2. Tonight was also a fund raising match for the trust betwen the team the Hermanator manages in Iceland and a Portsmouth 11, Hermans last game in England.

I just hope that next season one for consoldation and build for the future from the ground up and no court cases!

Despite it being 14months since Antanov had all his assets frozen, he is still awaiting extradition...i wonder what will happen if he is in the course of time found to be innocent.

"I've seen Portsmouth win the FA Cup and been in two finals and seen them draw 2-2 to AC Milan in the Europa League. I've seen them win promotion to the Premier League, seen them in the Championship, Premier League, League One and now League Two. I'm not even 16 yet!"

It's absolutly crazy. Ricardo Rocha will have played us in all 4 divisions if he stays next season. 1 FA Cup final and have been released twice.

There should be some good away days next season mind, 1-2k away fans turning up at the likes of Morcombe. We could potentially outnumber the home fans at a few away games next season. Going to be very sureal. Even more strange knowing I own a part of it.

I'd be well up for a trip to Wrexham. Seen us win at Swansea, and Rocha headbutt Bothroyd in Cardiff never a dull moment!

Not being born until the mid 80's im quite looking forward to a lot of new grounds. living in Sheffield now it should be quite easy to get to a lot of the away games too. Blue is far better than red!

Apprently last season we took an average of 1200. This season I was at both Carlise circa 1500 and Hartlepool (midweek) about a 1000. Assuming we travel in simialr numbers next season i'm not sure some of these clubs are going to know whats hit them! All things Pompey are absolutly buzzing after last week, if and its a big if we start off well things are going to snowball.

Isnt that the problem with having a manager with no real links to the club, there priority is always going to be themselves. Would Arry take risks with Bouernmouth which would threaten their survival, Im not convinced. Wrexham have an ex player as manager and I like to think that would make him more cautious about adding a player to the wage bill that he felt could put the club at risk.

I was a bit disappointed with Everton yesterday, its not that they played badly but just listening to Moyes after the game you got the impression that they were happy for a draw. A team live everton arent going to have an outside chance of a champions league place every season and I just wish they were willing to gamble a bit more

I always get the impression that against the top 4 or 5 teams everton have an inferiority complex. Look at liverpools who in my opinion are a worse team than everton, I think even with a sniff of champions league football they would have really gone for arsenal and gambled losing to have chance of winning.
