Just got back from the game. Didn't play well but did what we needed to do. Benfica looked short of confidence in front of goal while we just looked knackered. Luiz and Ramires in particular were poor, not sure if that had anything to do with them playing their former club.

Rafa has done a good job for us in very difficult circumstances. He has managed a relatively small squad well in a riduculously long season (69 games). Our home form, after he came out and called for more support, has been exceptional. Had the fans not given him such a hard time at the start, we would probably be sitting pretty in 2nd right now with a Carling Cup in the bag.

Not that i'm sad to see him go or anything. He has issues with making substitutions and changing a game.

Anyway, next season looking interesting now. Best chance Arsenal will ever have of winning the Prem

I wonder what brand Beckhams thinking was to announce his retirement before the penultimate game instead of the last 1, surely a great team player wouldn't want to make the last home game of a championship season in which he played quite a small part all about him?

I suspect Simon fuller advised it wouldn't be good for the brand announcing and playing his last game the weekend of a champions league final, but maybe I'm a cynic!

Delighted we got 4th spot. Now we really have to boost the team with top quality signings. Feel that with at least 3 top class signings we could challenge as we used to next year. Believe that we need a a top class keeper, Right back and Center Forward as a minimum. We have had 7 years of keeping things tight financially and now need to get the right players to complement the existing squad.
