If everton can have a good start to the season for a change and keep their best players fit, it could be an interesting season for them.

I thought Everton were superb last night, and it always looked as tho they'd be the winner is there was going to be a winner.

As a first game of the season it's hard to know what it might mean. So I'll guess at Utd having a slow start, while Everton will do the reverse of their normal season, and be relegated by xmas.

if the first game for each club defines their season, then there's no doubt about it.

But the first games doesn't define a team's season, so it's impossible to say with any real meaning. But it defo didn't look from last night that a bad season for Everton is very likely.

I think it depends on injuries and suspensions. I think the starting 11 of both is pretty well matched, however still think liverpool have more strength in depth.

I think it's a while before anything will be settled for how Liverpool will go this season.

Rumour is that both Adam and J.Cole are available for free transfers, and that Carroll has been told he has a week "to decide what he's doing" (which sounds like a threat of no squad place if he doesn't move on). I'd also guess that Shelvey will be somewhere else - tho on loan - before 1st Sept.

I'd guess that Adam will end up at Fulham, and that Dempsey will end up at Anfield.

Let's be honest, Liverpool are pretty shit (when compared to previous Liverpool sides, and their current rivals).

I can't think of one player in the Liverpool squad that would improve Man City, Man Utd, or Chelsea's team. Of course we know Liverpool aren't as strong as those sides, but to not have even one star player that would get into their rivals sides says it all.

Worse still is the amount of dross they have. None of these players (now) are good enough for a top 6 side:

Carroll, Cole, Henderson, Assaidi, Downing, Spearing, Carragher, Adam, Shelvey...add in the players I've not seen play or never even heard of and BR has a hell of a job on his hands.

I'd be very surprised if Liverpool made the Europa League. Unless they buy well before the window shuts.

I think Rogers is looking to get rid of Carroll this week and then sign someone else with whatever money they get for him. Presume hes been told hes plan B and thats it? So either sit on the bench for the season or move on?
