thetime
Uh, Hodgson was at Fulham before getting the harsh treatment at 'Pool. It was WBA who he went to afterwards. WBA pick managers well though, at least, they have since Megson was there.
eFestivals
Sky are reporting that Spearing is going on loan to Bolton. So that's one of the many out of the door, and while there's no transfer fee that's a player they didn't pay for, and saves I'd guess about £1M a year on wages. Which frees up a little towards Dempsey, perhaps?
kaosmark2
you might be right. But the chances of him collecting any silverware or playing in the Chumps with Fulham is almost zero. It might not be huge with Liverpool, but it's surely better. Unless there's an offer from another club that gives him better chances, he's got nothing to lose by giving Liverpool a go (and probably much to win in wages). thetime
Whos the winger on 5/6m a year in wages? downing or cole or both?
eFestivals
And the advantage of a loan is that if he does turn out to play well they can take him back next season rather than pay a transfer fee. from what i've read the club would be happy enough to sell Spearing, but he's not keen to quit. He's been with the club for years, and was their FA Youth Cup winning captain, so i'm guessing he's very attached to the club if not actually 'a fan'. And I guess he also knows that if he goes he's probably not likely to get a chance at a club of similar size during his career ... whereas if he stays there's still a chance that he might still get to be a success at Liverpool. I think it's Carroll/Adam/Downing/Cole they need to shift, they're the seriously big wage players who aren't going to get games. oh, defo. As things stand it's looking unlikely that they'll succeed in shifting even two of those tho. Spearing doesn't save the club much but it might make the difference between being able to bring in another player and not being able to. eFestivals
Whos the winger on 5/6m a year in wages? downing or cole or both? I'm guessing it was mostly about Cole, as he seems furthest from Rodgers plans. I'd guess that Downing is on a bit less than Cole, plus Rodgers seems to have a mad idea of using him as left back. He's dreadful at defending, but they do need cover at left back. Edited August 30, 2012 by eFestivals

eFestivals
SAFC are still favourites to sign him last I heard. Are you sure? He's supposedly been telling everyone he's off to Liverpool for the last month. Sunderland might come in with a suitable offer, perhaps even the largest offer, but i'm not sure that'll necessarily be the deciding factor. jammy2211
Dempseys going lpool if thry get the funds and sunderland if not. will be a hectic last day but ive stopped caring now we got berba. richardsons coming from sunderland too which could be good. Gutted demebeles gone but he was a class above us. spurs got a real star. I reckon well get a midfielder in too before the close, adam was rumoured but it seems to have gone away so someone else will spring up i reckon. Jol has a good record so far so im sure itll be fine. well have a good team if ruiz plays like hes capable of. prob worse then we were but we'll be up some 15m so hopefully well spend that wisely in jan or something. Well, and Carra, but given his history with the club there's no way he'll be going.
The Nal
Carra apparently off at end of the season. I heard he's not taking up the extra year on his contract and will go into coaching. The relegation of him behind Coates in the pecking order should confirm his times up anyway.

TheGayTent
IMO Liverpool are as likely to finish in a CL spot as I am of sniffing coke off Mila Kunis' otters pocket

kaosmark2
It's going pretty slowly isn't it? What's the business of drawing the group letters as well? Why can't the groups just be allocated in order of teams drawn?
TheGayTent
I'd like Swindon away in the draw please

kaosmark2
Didn't these draws use to take ~ 10 minutes? Pull a team from each pot, call it group A, repeat until 8 groups are there.

TheGayTent
Looks like the Sunderland interest in Dempsey has forced Liverpool's hand with Carroll. Now in real discussions with WHU.
