ROCK WERCHTER 2013

Hi all,

Been to Werchter before but camped, I'm tempted to get a flight Friday evening or Saturday morning and get a day ticket either off of eBay or off of someone outside the festival.

However is there any transport back to Brussels after the music finishes? Most accommodation in Leuven as you can imagine is booked up, I think there is a train at about 5am however would like a nights sleep so preferable to get a bus somehow back to Brussels, any ideas?

Cheers

Just in a hostel in Leuven right now; the weekend was absolutely excellent, Editors blew every other headliner out of the water, pretty tempted to get a Megabus to Antwerpen in October and see them at Sportpaleis, fantastic.

The only big criticism I have though was there seemed to be quite a lot of crime; the amount of wallets and phones that went missing during Biffy Clyro was astonishing.

Had a great time at the Festival, and in Leuven. Watched the Lions' win in the Irish Bar with themangus and hundreds of other rugby fans.

Great weather, really well organised and music was amazing (The National, Blur, Haim, The Lumineers and Bloc Party were my favourites)

KOL and blur were epic...watching the Lions win in Leuven back for the Phonics with our welsh flag (as a welshman) a personal highlight! Rammestein were insaneeee...then the Sunday, Bastille, Loved Tom Odell, Of Monsters of Men with our Icelandic camping neighbours...Jake Bugg, Dimitri Vegas was Sickkk and the End of the Editors....What a festival, Bit pricey on food and a hell of a treck for beer so would definately take a van next time.... 2 and a half hours going in was a nightmare but quickly forgotten! Well after a bit of sleep my highlights were monsters of men, nick cave, depeche mode, Bastille, blur and lowlights were getting phone stolen during biffy and sigur ros. Although with sigur ros it was because I was not relaxed to fully enjoy there set with being annoyed of phone stolen.

So warm for Saturday and Sunday, werchter weather never let's me down.

It was probably my last werchter, so great year to finish it of.

Arrived back in Glasgow a couple of hours ago, took an extra day in Brussels to chill out post-festival and take stock of all the madness.

I had an absolutely brilliant time.

Highlights were Bloc Party, Biffy Clyro and Blur.

Bloc Party especially, nailed it... the crowd was immense and Flux was a huge moment for me.

I'm delighted I took the time out to catch the Lions & Andy Murray too though, just added to the brilliant memories of the weekend.

Always cool to catch up w/ a efestivaler too.

Just enough time to recharge and repack for TITP.

So glad for the love for Blur. They absolutely smashed it, one of my favourite live sets for sure. I heard they were a bit hit & miss live but they certainly hit this time and I Damon genuinely looked like he was having a great time too.

On this theft in Biffy business...was this theft in The Barn? As in people taking things from pockets?!

What a great weekend. Best band for me was definitely Volbeat, I absolutely loved them. Depeche Mode, Blur and Rammstein also nailed it for me. I also have to metion Biffy Clyro, The Lumineers and Of Monsters and Men who.

The only disappointment was Editors. They were so bad that after about half their set we walked to the back. It's a pity as they were fantastic last year...but this year, they were just depressing if you ask me.

But over all a great weekend and I already booked a hotel for #RW14 :D ...next up, ROCK'N'HEIM in august :D

Just got home from Brussels. Had a bit of a disaster as a ton of blood vessels exploded in both my ankles on Saturday evening, so my ankles were incredibly bruised and swollen for Rammstein and all of Sunday. So much so that I couldn't get my shoes on properly and spent all the Monday in A+E.

On the music subject, Sigur Rós, Blur, Nick Cave and Editors were my highlights. Nick Cave especially, absolutely astonishing. Glad he was the last set before my ankles died.

In Sigur Rós I had another health disaster (weird as I'm normally extremely healthy and active) and had to come over the barrier as I was about to either throw up everywhere or pass out. This wasn't so bad in the end as I was taken side stage to have a bottle of water where I could still see, and then wandered back into a great position to enjoy the rest.

On the whole, a great weekend, and I'd definitely come back.
