Sunbeds/sitting in sun all day,...

I've used a sun tanning place over a series of weeks on two occassions. These were to get a start on the tanning process before going on holiday. It just seemed right to do it at the time despite knowing what the consequences could be. Not so sure I'd do it again though as I think I'm already juggling too many death inducing balls.

I am paleish, I just go fecking red and burn (Jesus christ I've had to use factor 50 if i am outside for long periods of time here!) in the sun so never quite the point or why people bother :P....Nor do I really like the bronzed look on women (i mean its up to them if they want to but it does nothing for me personally, I prefer an English rose than a girl defiantly looks she works at boots:P)

I just guess I can't ever understand why you want to burn your skin :P

More cancer stats ....

There's a four times greater chance of any person getting cancer from the food they eat than there is a smoker getting cancer from fags.

They ban smoking in pubs to protect the staff (fair enough!) but give fucking McD's the advertising rights to the festival of sport called the Olympics. You couldn't make it up.

Hey, If you wanna get a sun tan come down to Malta, temperatures are hitting 37 deg this week.... too much isnt it?

Re: Sunburns and UV, well it is statistically proven that prolonged exposure to the sun increases the risk of Melanoma and it effects fair people more than the dark skinned....

And yes food also plays a factor and there is a correlation with bowel disease unfortuantely as well...junk food is bad to our health...switch to mediteranean diet, they say its healthy :) ...

On the other hand, genetic predisposition is really significant i.e. the carry over of genes from our parents etc...that plays an important role...i can keep going on and on...well, the best thing is to find a balance, eat moderately and do a lot of exerice ideally... but im getting lazy again, the unbearable heat is draining all my energy....

And sleeping in a sleeping bag. And eating apple peel. There's fuck loads of things that 'cause' cancer enough to be classed as a carcinogen while not actually meaning jack-shit.

There's a few things of significance, smoking and sunbeds are definitely on them, but diet is another (McDonalds technically/supposedly doesn't contain anything carcinogenic, but a diet of it, because of the ill health issues of its balance, will). Ultimately, people will choose their vices and live and die with them.

Surely it depends what you are eating? Oh, and citation please.

yep, it depends on the food a person eats.

I can't give you a reference, it was something I picked up from a snippet of a TV programme I've seen in the last few days or from a trailer for a TV programme I've seen in the last few days.

If you want to hunt for it I'm pretty sure it was something on the beeb, but I can't give you anything better than that to help you locate it.

Bacon and apple peel are worth it. I know the health risks and have made a decision to continue eating them.

Other people decide smoking's worth it, or sunbeds are. Of course, considering that one group stinks and another's orange, I don't find them attractive, but it's their right to choose how to be idiotic.
