TITP forum?

There is lots of rubbish being spouted on here from both sides of the argument. Violence never really solves anything.

However the notion that if you bring up your kids in a certain way they will avoid violence is equally laughable. I have seen or heard of plenty of good people beat up or worse for absolutely no reason, and certainly not confined to Titp or indeed Scotland

Sometimes in life you will need to stick up for yourself, or a friend or indeed a total stranger. Id like to think someone would step in if i was attacked, and not walk on or indeed chat to the person jumping on my head and ask "please don't do that, violence never solved anything".

Both extreme views are equally ridiculous

You can defend yourself without necessary having to lump the guy one back...I wish had the resolve to walk away from a couple of fights I've ended up in and it would have worked out for the better if i had rather than hit back. (One i had hit back when I got mugged, and one of them went to hit the girl I was with at the time as I was fighting back(When I saw that threat i stopped and gave up my phone). The police found them latter that day with a knife on them...)

You've just got to accept, sometimes the best option is not to get involved in a fight, infact most of the time. If someone's started chances are they won't stop until one of you is down in a serious way.

Some people in this thread are a perfect example of the kind of cretins you get at TITP these days.

Apparently it's completely normal to get punched at a festival, just punch them back, enjoy your weekend and don't be a miserable bastard!

I would rather spend my money going to a festival where I don't have to deal with stinking wee neds. Not to mention all of the other reasons why T is shite and doesn't offer value for money.

I think its extreme as it seemed a generalization that if you get into trouble you have went looking for it.

That was the point i was making. I've never been involved in violence cos i try and avoid it, but like i said, i know good people with good educations, and who live in affluent areas who have had the misfortune to be attacked or robbed, and they certainly didn't go looking for it.

However, i agree to disagree. I wish life was as simple as just avoiding trouble.

Well its just as well there isnt a regular Oxegen forum in the International festivals section, well there is, but not as popular as the T forum. But I can imagine that it would be the same old shite really. Judging by the news reports from the Pheonix Park Swedish House Mafia show in Dublin nothing as much changed http://entertainment.ie/music/news/One-dead-nine-stabbed-at-Swedish-House-Mafia-Phoenix-Park-concert/129830.htm

Had to edit that, forgot about Bowie. My Saturday act would be one of those 3, a massive act, while I think that The Killers would easily headline (new album, T favourites) but would happily play second fiddle if Bowie finally played T

Main

Biffy - Jack White

Killers/Green Day - Bloc Party

Bowie/Lady Gaga - The Black Keys

NME

Paolo Nutini

Dizzee Rascal

Queens Of The Stone Age

Tuts

Franz Ferdinand

At The Drive-In

Justice

I'd be pretty happy with that. Easy enough to avoid Gaga and Dizzee. Rest I'd be pleased with.

EDIT: I lie, I'd be ecstatic with that.

Given the amount of times he has played in the last few T's lately, I'd rule him out.. and at a long shot I can see him as a Rockness headliner (especially with his new show), maybe on their friday, Anyway, T... given the interview Ellis did with NME here part of me is tempting not to go with Biffy and the likes for a top name, but will for now...

Main

Fri: Biffy - Jack White

Sat: Lady Gaga - Paulo Nutini

Sun: "random legend act" (I'll go with Paul McCartney)/The Killers - The Black Keys

NME

Fri: Dizzee Rascal/Bloc Party (could see one/both playing rockness)

Sat: The Prodigy

Sun: QOTSA

King Tuts:

Fri: a Weller/Ashcroft type act

Sat: Franz Ferdinand

Sun: Justice

others - Travis, Garbage, Texas, No Doubt, Ed Sheeran, The Charlatans, Underworld

The only bad things i heard about T from the numerous people i know who went there were about the weather, on here as usual though people complain a lot. The guy that got punched got a bit of a raw deal obviously, shame if that one idiot gives him that lasting impression of the place.
