Free beer and burger provided by the festival for weekend ticket holders

I was always going to go to the festival anyway. But when people saw the 'Free burger and beer' they probably brought a ticket anyway thinking that well save a bit of money there.

But to change it to free beer and butty with a few weeks before Is a bit of a piss take. Why offer it in the first place?

Like that user said above me. I would love to hear them defending it.

you'd have to go to the bar yourself at least 25 times over the weekend to cover the smallest possible time it might take to put money on these wristbands. Given that very few people would go to the bar 24 times over the weekend, it's not easier.

And how is it safer? With cash in your pocket, you are in control of your money. Your money is not safer for your own use if you have to rely on a 3td party to be able to give you access to your money, which is exactly what you'd be doing.

So want to try again? Even the less queuing is bollocks, as proven by the bigger queues than they'd be for entrance in handling paper tickets.

Melvin Benn: "At the end of the day everyone wants a beer and a burger, don't they? So somehow I'm going to do that. Ultimately I'm going to try and get the sponsors to pay for it if I can. If they don't I'll be paying for it myself."

Must have had to cover the cost himself then eh? ; )

Obviously it's free at the end of the day so people can't really complain but it's still a bit naughty to say you'll do one thing and then do another. Then again why expect anything less from a festival promoter : ) It's like the "UK Exclusive" thing.

Then there's no difference. People who steal from tents will take things from the tents and with a wallet/cashless wristband you will be taking it with you.

You also have to consider that the cashless band has limits of how much you can put on so you still have to bring cash to put it onto the band in the 1st place.

No. You have professional theves. They stele wallets, take the cash the cash, ditch the wallet. This is what they do. They are only intrested in cash. They are the biggest problem when it comes to festival thefts. They arn't intrested in phones or cameras as effectivly they are then carrying evedence. You could pre-load the cards from home online, at the bank, in the post office. Would be pritty easy.

No its not, people were kocking the idea from page one.

OK the minimum would be something setable by the bank and festival. The second part I havn't missed. I never said this was the silver bullet that was stop ALL tent thefts. It would howver cut out the vast majority. Im not joking when I say the vast majority of tent theves are from (very few) professional gangs who only want cold hard cash.

likewise, there's loads of other things which could be as effective or more effective at stopping tent thefts from festivals. For example...

Stop having festivals.

Stop people camping at festivals.

Don't take cash.

Don't be so foolish as to leave your cash where someone is able to take it.

Get some decent security staff that actually care about people's security (rather than just their own), so they don't unnecessarily hassle innocent punters and catch the thieves instead.

All of those things would work, and would work better than these wristbands. And be cheaper.

Back to the wristbands: there's a reason why the money limit is low on them, and that's because the makers of those systems don't have the confidence in their systems that they expect festival goers to have.

I assume stop having festivals and stop camping at festivals is hyperbole.

No, just a ridiculous solution for something which has more than one solution. Rather like the wristbands really. :)

As for the system. Surly the limit at wirelss was set so low because it was no camping/the only thing for people to buy at hyde park is food and drink.

definitely not just that.

There are no limits on the Oyster system or the pre payed Master Card system ect ect.

there is also no restriction on those being the only payment method. I'd happily live with that. :)

Do you think that's the option we'll get?
