So it seems like hotbox have let the cat out of the bag in regards to the beer. You'll get one of these a day (or a none alchoholic equivalent)

@ToPutItBluntly Yep we make sure all festival volunteers who apply to work with us @OfficialRandL are on the same shifts as their friends! You'll be handing out these ck4fxff.

I cant believe how miserable everyone is being. At the end of the day the burger and sandwich are free. That’s right there free. No one is forcing you to take one. And grow up, no one decided they were going to Reading because of this offer. There’s no free food and drink offer like this from any other festival anyway so what ever you get is a bonus. How people have decided this is a con in beyond me.

Even though it's free if they've deliberately lead people to beileve that the deal is something it's not or was ever going to be in exchange for good PR and sales then it's still a bit of a con.

If some people have been too gullible/excitable/good-natured and allowed themselves to think it's more than it was ever likely to be then that's their fault (after all he did say something at the time like "I'm not sure what it'll be or how it'll work but we'll be doing something").

I think the truth is somewhere near the middle although closer to the latter, either way it's still a decent service and if it's not too much grief I'll be taking them up on it (if it is I'll be going straight into the arena to a proper bar).

Yeah, people should be happy because they called bullshit and it turned out to be bullshit.

No but it would have influenced their decision especially as the target demographic are teens who are getting more and more skint these days. It's like those packages where you get a free Xbox or Playstation with a mobile contract, those aren't free they are included in the deal like this and they've changed it after people have bought the tixs only FR were smart enough not to include it in the small print so they change the details like they have done.

What I find amazing is how people are rubbishing it before any real details have been announced. Its clearly a con because someone in this thread a year ago decided it would be a pint and someone later has said it wouldn’t be. FR haven’t said anything about the size. OK they have swapped out burger for sandwich but did you really thing it was going to be a good burger. That’s not a huge difference. In fact in shops a bacon sandwich isn’t that much less than a cheap burger – the bacon roll I get on the way to work sometimes is 90p; not had a McDonalds for a while but I’m sure I saw an ad for a double cheese burger for £1.20 the other day.

No surprise it's in the campsite but the midday limit seems a little tight.

Also all three beers at the same time, I'll have to neck those in between the gate and the arena on the Friday morning as I bet you can't take them into the arena.

"The beer is even easier! As you walk out of wristband exchange for the first time a team of festival volunteers will be waiting to give every weekend wristband holder a bag with three cans of beer or soft drinks, one for each of the music days. What's even better is that the bag is a recycling bag, which you can fill with empty cans over the festival to get even more free beer!"

yeah Melv, that is not going to happen like you think it is
