Video cameras

Thinking of taking a small video camera to Leeds this year, nothing too fancy or expensive in case it gets nicked. I don't intend to take it into the arena, just do some filming around the campsite. Has anybody done this before? Is it allowed? The website is too vague and I've read that if you get stuff confiscated you don't get it back

It says clearly on the website that all people with video capturing devices will have their picture taking eye burnt out of the socket, and the button pressing finger to be decapitated.

Harsh rules but the amount that break them is astonishing. Hopefully we won't have another year like the great maim of '08. Poor souls.

I guess it depends on how big the thing is and whether it looks professional. Obviously photo's are fine and they won't stop anyone filming on their iPhone or equivalent non-Apple product for personal use, but if you have something that looks like you might be using it to make a professional film then there may be some kind of infringement. Even then I doubt you'll be noticed unless you rock up with a tripod and boom mike and start directing people.

You will have no problem, unless like tourette said you take pro gear with you.

Most cams take hd video now, so its hard to police like they used to. Always take a ultrazoom camera with hd video and never had problems, its only when you take dslr cams.

Saw a few day ticketers with these (or similar Sanyo) last year, small enough to get in your pocket but most point & shoot cameras have HD quality video recording & the batteries should last longer. Only advantage is the optical zoom.
