thewayiam
I think he meant they might be exclusive to r/l
Gingo
They still can be. As long as R&L have an Exclusive headline set length performance, I doubt it's going to stop a festival 7 hours drive away getting them on a sub/NME headliner. thewayiam
UK exclusive usually means not playing anywhere else in the UK, no matter where they are positioned

Gingo
Unfortunately 'UK exclusive' very rarely means what it appears to at the time that it's used, and in fact it's not used as often as people think - they hear 'exclusive' and assume it means 'UK exclusive', but festival promotors (especially Melvin Benn) have shown in the past that they have been very creative with the use of the word 'exclusive'. mrtourette
The only pretty certain thing about R&L is that their headliners (not co-headliners) won't headlining another festival in England (as long Radio One Big Weekend doesn't count as a festival). Chiefski
Yup this is the key thing. Another festival might get them but set that is probably on an hour compared to the extra half hour of songs that reading would get. Thats what partly makes me think to plan T they'll sub. They were 3rd last time, sub is doable. To get bloc party 3rd under them makes a fairly strong day. This is to the killers btw. The Mumford sub in an interesting one. I still don't think the script will sub to rihanna, play 3rd but not sub
Red Day
Posted Today, 09:02 AM and some people in the T in the Park thread reckon ALL festival goers only want endless indie landfill Copied from Glastonbury Chat section. Think that's a bit harsh Neil. From what I've followed on this forum, there are some who want a more varied line up but don't think anyone has asked for three days of indie landfill, whatever that is. A bit of something for everyone and not just what's currently 'pop' or 'mainstream'

A bit of something for everyone and not just what's currently 'pop' or 'mainstream'which is what last year's line-up was, but those who only like indie landfill said it was all pop. There was less pop on the bill than there was indie landfill (even tho indie landfill is just pop as bad as Minaj, etc, anyway). All T does it mainstream, it's all it's ever done. As proven by the fact that every mainstream fest has all the same acts.
Red Day
Stone Roses are hardly indie landfill, neither are Elbow, Simple Minds, Maccabees, New Order, Happy Mondays, Frank Turner and some other stuff I went to see. A lot of current 'pop' on the bill and I have no issue with that as long as there's some variety, whatever you want to call it. Main point of posting was to disagree with your comment tho Can't think of anyone on this thread who's been harping on for three days of indie landfill Not reading your reply correctly. Yes there was something for everyone (to a degree) and you're probably correct about T always booking what's currently 'popular'. Not sure current pop will attract folks for three days in a field but that's their choice. Edited January 21, 2013 by Red Day
Red Day
Weather certainly didn't help last year but it was flat as anything. I thought 2011 was excellent throughout.

foolee
I don't really understand the point in the argument on this page... Nor do I get what Indie landfill is, haha. Surely with a variety of pop eg Rihanna, Mumford. and the likes of more rocky acts of Stereophonics, Biffy, Bloc Party, T would be providing a balanced, yet popular lineup and could sell more tickets? Rather than just acts more to the Rihanna side of things...

thetime
Less good festivals is an interesting point you make, as T is apparantly in the top 5 music festivals in the world you can experience.
