Babyshambles played in France the other night. TITP have booked Pete in one form or another for every year 2009-2012 (No idea about before then). I wonder if they'd take the gamble on him again this year. If they turn up, Babyshambles are brilliant live, highlight of the weekend in 2010 for me.

I seem to recall Geoff saying he would keep on asking Pete back... (Reckon they're holding out for a libs reunion and want to keep on his good side).

I think if available he'll be booked in one way - hopefully the Libertines (wishful thinking)

now go through that list and think who is actually possible ...

Here is a list, all i could think of for now but there are plenty of headline acts on there to choose from all of which have headlined festivals in recent years, so obviously still willing and active.

Green Day - leeds exclusive

The Cure - no dates

Depeche Mode - not a big enough ticket seller in UK

Arcade Fire - one or 2 pregnant so not touring extensively if at all

Black Sabbath - no european summer date, euro tour in november, not exactly T band in any time

Arctic Monkeys - only just played 2 years ago and would be classed as a repeat

Biffy Clyro - leeds exclusive, no doubt booked for next year

The Black Keys - very little dates as writing new album, all in US and canada

Blink 182 - booked 2 years ago as sub, not any bigger, and nothing after may

Blur - no uk date and said they werent doing uk dates

Eminem - leeds exclusive

Iron Maiden - completely delusional if you think thy would headline T

Jay Z & Kanye West (Or either on their own) - jay Z european exclusive to wireless i believe, kanye not touring

Bruce Springsteen - own stadium tour and apparently not T's demographic (geoffs words)

Kasabian - played last year

The Killers - playing

Kings of Leon - seem to be blanking scotland although i think they'll play GSS, i'll give you this one

Metallica - not gonna play T, and i dont believe they have any euro dates this summer ...

Muse - not doing festivals this year

Pearl Jam - dont think they fit T's demographic anymore (unfortunately)

Radiohead - thom touring AFP

Rage Against The Machine - not touring

Red Hot Chili Peppers - no euro dates, actually think coachella is they only date, and flea touring AFP

The Rolling Stones - really, doubt any festival other than glasto could have got them

Coldplay - only 2 years since they played and i believe they are off this year

U2 - not touring and dont like playing festivals

The Stone Roses - last year and GG gig

The Verve - split up are they not ?

Green Day-No

The Cure-No

Depeche Mode-No

Arcade Fire-No

Black Sabbath-No

Arctic Monkeys -Headlined a couple of years ago, repeat.

Biffy Clyro-There was debate on here whether they were big enough.

The Black Keys-No

Blink 182-No

Blur-Yes, how many festivals are they headlining this year?

Eminem-Headlined recently, wouldn't do it again so soon.

Iron Maiden-No

Jay Z & Kanye West (Or either on their own)-Would be good, how many are they headlining this year though, are they touring?

Bruce Springsteen-As mentioned previously he doesn't fit t's "demographic". Wouldn't mind him.

Kasabian-Headlined last year!

The Killers-Headlining this year!

Kings of Leon-Yes, but allot of people would not have been happy with them.

Metallica-No

Muse-Yes.

Pearl Jam-See Springsteen

Radiohead-Yes, how many festivals are they doing though?

Rage Against The Machine-No

Red Hot Chili Peppers-No

The Rolling Stones-Yes, anyone but Glasto would not work though

Coldplay-Yes, only 2 years though...

U2-Don't like playing festivals, see Rolling Stones

The Stone Roses-Yes, last year

The Verve-Why not put the Oasis here?

its not about what we think, its about what the now regular T punter thinks.

and to them mumford, killers and rhiana are a fantastic set of headliners.

and your list is guff, you've basically just taken a list of bands you like or have seen are playing at least one date this year.

only one ( kings of leon) was viable.

as much as i hate to say it, i agree with geoff, in this day T only has a list of about 12 bands who could potentially headline.

personally, as much as i dont like her, i think rhiana was a real coup for T this year. she's absolutely massive in music, cant think of many people bigger than her ...

Like I said, their are barely any. The likes of Metallia and Black Sabbath are massive bands who simply would not fit into T. Even when T try something new like this year and get Rhianna and Mumfords in they get criticised.

In the same way that Coldplay wouldn't headline download, mainstream pop is struggling for "massive" acts that can headline Festivals, the most recent one to come through is Mumfords, before that the Arctic Monkeys.

It is sad but very true, if the same headliners get booked they are criticized as being repeats, if new ones are announced like 2 this year they get criticized for being poor, its hard to get that mix of not having the same bands headlining every second year while finding new acts to headline that fit into the demographic of TITP

In response to your question Paul, I think Biffy are a cert after headlining R/L this year but the choice after that is anyones guess I would imagine KOL or Arctic Monkeys to fit the safe headliner that is there every few years or so and I would hope someone like Green Day, thats the best I can really expect at this moment in time

Demographic this demographic that blah blah yadda yadda. Bollox. Big rock bands = sell out but less profit. Nursery rhyme pop bands = less people but more profit NOW but not long term. Fleeced and hung out to dry, that's you that is, those of you still paying music festival prices for button pressers and mime artists with the odd cheap guitar band thrown in.Tennents to pull the plug and be replaced by Sunny D and Kopparberg strawberry and lime within 5 years. You heard it here first.

Download ticket arrived today at the same time as Sabbath at teh Hydro was booked. I'll do a survey of the sell out crowd whilst I'm there to see who would have gone to T to watch them if there were other real bands on teh line up. In fact I'll start now.......

1> devilman (actually I'd go if the rest of the line up was gaga and likki minje)

Please god no to Bastille, and I like them really enjoyed there set at reading last year but I also loved king Charles last year and there is no way he could headline.....

What devilman says is spot on...

GE would not have made a lot of profit in 2011 with the arctic monkey, Coldplay, the foo fighters, the strokes, Tom Jones, jimmy eat world, house of pain! Beyonce and pulp to name a few. You know what though the place was heaving and it was a top line up....

Last year was nothing in comparison.....but I'll bet he made more profit with niki minaj and olly murs etc suckers of satans cock....
