Deeps
i can't think of an act that you would call a festival act that'll shift more at the moment.
harryomatic
I think a lot of Paramore's position (should they play) will depend on how the new album does. Having lost 2 members, it's make or break for them really.
Millar95
Wouldn't be surprised at both. What relevance has the music scene in 2009 got to do with 2013? *two years Laugh away, going by your tearful responses to this thread I understand T allot more than you do gramps. The only chance of a non dance act being on the NME is if Biffy Clyro headline it, you can bookmark this and come back to it but either way it's true. Deadmau5/The Prodigy/Avicii/Chemical Bros, at least two(maybe 3 if Biffy don't sub) are a stick on to headline the Nme.
Paulk2904
Shift more what? Tickets? There are loads of bands who would be able to sell more than Mumford and Sons

devilman
Depeche Mode The Prodigy ACDC Bon Jovi Rammstein take That robbie There's shit loads more. Hell if we're going to do American Record sales then we could drag out the whole country catalogue too including Dolly Parton. Mumfords are the best on the line up so far and they're a one trick pony tribute act. Sad times.
Paulk2904
Rolling Stones - Would be good but never gonna happen. U2 - Would be good but never gonna happen. Radiohead - Not T's demographic Muse - Not doing fests. Arcade Fire - Not T's demographic Kings Of Leon - Most people don't want them. Arctic Monkeys - Played to recently. The Killers - Playing. Blur - Not doing UK fests. The Strokes - Didn't headline last time can't see them doing it this time. Guns N Roses - Too risky. Coldplay - Played to recently. Green Day - Possibly Linkin Park - - Not T's demographic Kasabian - Played to recently. Metallica - Not T's demographic Snow Patrol - Played to recently. Stone Roses - Played to recently. The Who - Would be awesome. The Cure - Not T's demographic Foo Fighters - Played to recently. Bruce Springsteen - Not T's demographic (according to Geoff) RHCP - Wellllll past it. That's just ones I listen to. Probably more that I don't.

Deeps
Whilst some of the bands mentioned may not be likely the original point was that M&S are one of the biggest bands in the world, not just for T's demographic which I was arguing against. Also, if Rage can headline, why not Metallica or Linkin Park? Probably more mainstream than Rage were.

frankblack
im hopeful ... what people are failing to realise is that regardless of your tastes, geoff has managed to get arguably 3 of the biggest acts in the world right now, 2 of which arent repeats and one who hasnt been for years ... guitarbhoy1888
Sorry, but none of those acts are anywhere close to being the biggest touring acts in the world. The acts booked are strictly third-division compared to the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, U2, AC/DC, Metallica etc. Who says that the majority of people going to T are into Pop? Ticket sales will tell, I suppose. There are currently zero bands announced that I would pay to see, and I go to lots of gigs. Should a few be announced on one day I might consider a day ticket, but for now I'm out.
thetime
Still amazes me radiohead have never headlined titp and people think there not in titp demographic. They have headlined glasto/reading/leeds/v so what is titp demographic?
texas_pedro
People are not thinking about the bigger picture in this discussion of who is massive and who would sell more tickets. Like them or not but m+s are massive at this moment for the demographic that t appeals to. The vast amount of t goers last year that filled the stages for shite like rita ora, example, nicki minaj do not want bruce springsteen, u2,arcade fire, fleetwood mac, prince, who etc. On top of that, why would df book springsteen when they know they can annouce a separate hampden gig that will sell out and attract the correct crowd. Going to a tuesday night gig in summer is very different to a weekend at t. The same could be said about any of the above. So, i dont agree that mumford are bigger than springsteen, but to the t market they are. Its a generalisaton, but i think its accurate. gazza_20
I think people need to realise that T is not HRC or Download Festival, it never has or never will be. Do not mention Foo's, they played last year and not even a fest that has has AC/DC and Metallica has had them. ultimately it's a shit lineup as a few hundred don't like the acts, there is 85k that go
