T in the Park 2013

Black Keys were completely upstaged by Maccabees.

To date Black Keys have one very good album and a lot of (what is mostly) crap previous (which translated to their set - nobody gave a fuck about anything other than the El Camino tracks).

Disappointment if I'm honest.

Had the Black Keys been warming up for Maccabees it would have been a great gig (provided they stuck to EC).

Back on topic; T in the Park line up meh.

If Rockness get QOTSA I'm there instead.

makes me laugh, people would get a ticket to see a £25 band max probs for £80+ instead but complain at a lineup that had a couple of £50 + easily bands on there.

Mumford would sell their shows at £50, sounds like hyde park should've been mumford with arcade fire as support

With that logic DF should simply book most expensive bands per ticket price and we should all shut up and be happy.

The fact that the Macabees and the Black Keys are actually better bands (IMO) and are more the type that punter would pay to watch in a field makes it perfect sense that by booking decent bands such as the two mentioned will result in people buying tickets.

I would say both are better festival attractions than Rihanna

gazza just be quiet ... sarcastic.gif

you cant possibly say that because someone sells tickets cheaper their somehow inferior and would sell less tickets for the festival sarcastic.gif

when im at T i see roughly 20-25 acts over the weekend. not all of them big ones, i pay the money to go see bands i like, not bands who sell tickets for more money ...

Didnt see Black Keys last night, but saw them on their previous tour at the Corn Exchange, fantastic band. If you dont 'get' the older songs you should really give their previous albums a spin, Brothers being the most recommended imo. If it ever came to it, they would be one of those bands that ended up with a fantastic greatest hits. Could easily headline NME too.

Gazza, I've no idea what you're rambling on about. You normally seem logical enough but you're digging a hole with this one. Black Keys, Maccabees, Arcade Fire = Good, Mumfords = shite, price of a ticket to their gigs doesn't even come into the equation

What Gazza'z saying makes sense. There will be more people willing to pay ~£90 for a day ticket if the headliner normally charges ~£55 for a gig, compared to a headliner who charges ~£25. That's obvious.

The thing about Arcade Fire supporting Mumford is probably a bit off. If it was that way around there'd be just as many people buying tickets solely for AF and leaving before Mumford, I reckon.
