I do actually agree with what your saying to an extent Gazza, but in fairness to everyone disagreeing with you, your point was that people are more willing to buy tickets for acts that can charge £50+ however, Mumford and Sons don't charge these prices? They charged the same price as The Black Keys (I know this because I'm going to both this week) and niether do The Killers for their arena shows do they? (I could be wrong with that)

Gazza, sorry if you took it wrong and I see what you're getting at, although I think your logic is a bit skewed. The main reason I (and I assume a fair amount of others) buy a festival ticket is to see bands they like and the cost of a ticket to their own show is largely irrelevant . You could have a load of bands who charge £40 - £50 for a show and if I don't like them I wouldn't buy a festival ticket if they were on the bill.

I'm far more excited about the thought of seeing Black Keys and the Maccabees (if they are added) than I am at seeing anything that's been announced so far, with the exception of TDCC.

If I can get 5 or so acts a day that I'm happy to watch, then for me I'm happy to go. Best example I can give is buying Belladrum tickets for 2011. Line up got announced and there was nothing I wanted to see except Frank Turner. Despite many good weekends at Bella I sold the tickets because it didn't justify going.

Likewise, if T announces acts I like, then the ticket becomes decent value.

Talking of prices for bands i was more than happy at the fact The Stone Roses were announced this year charging £50 odds for their gigs although that still didn't stop me from buying one for Glasgow Green anyway... But in terms of actually paying £200 for a ticket it made me feel better knowing that it was worth several of the bands with their individual ticket prices like New Order £50, Happy Mondays £30, Noel Gallagher £40, Stone Roses £50, felt as though there was still a certain value but i like all of them anyway so price didn't come into it very much.

I quite like that, its the same for reading and leeds. You can now take your time rather than making hasty descisions on dodgy lineups. My last glasto took until the last minute to sell out and I got a ticket around may I think it was.

Festival organisers have got complacent and thinking that if they serve any shit it will sell out. Times are different now, people are cutting back on how many festivals they go to as prices rise so festivals need to try harder to sell tickets.
