quality or not, they're no less of a pop act ... unless The Beatles were not a pop act either.

As decent live Stereophonics are, they really fall into the 'seen them once, seen them a million times' category at T

Rihanna's voice & live performances have actually improved over the years, I'd happily go see her over the snore fest that is Mumford or the Killers.

I think if Stereophonics had managed one or two more massive hits like Dakota they could have become one of the great bands. Still, I'll alway love them, and I personally think they're pretty good live.

First Stereophonics album is one of my favourite albums, second one is great too. Sadly they've only made one particularly good album in the 00's.

Seen them about 5 times live, I'll definitely be watching them again if they're at TITP. Would be ideal if they were on NME against Rihanna.

Out of interest, any idea if Oxegen is happening next year? Rhianna has already announced a Dublin date so I'm guessing that rules her out any Irish festival.

I do think 2 of the NME headliners will be your Prodigy/chemical brothers etc but I just think surely they must be putting a good quality guitar band on at the same time as Rihanna! I could be very wrong though

Fwiw I think Franz Ferdinand will either be higher up the main stage or (most likely) headline King Tuts.

T is shagged then. Without a sister festival for mutual paydays it's going to struggle. Solution? Team up with Sonisphere and share bands. Rock T. Thumbs up, devilman likes this

I can't see a live nation owned-fest teaming up with a fest that competes against another live nation fest.

Yeah whatevs. If they're still getting the headline slots in 5-10 years I'll don ma wellies and pluck a banjo naked at the front of T. There are far better folk/rock bands out there that have actually got roots in the music rather than being a contrived and well marketed bunch of public schoolboys from Larndon.

I have never said that T was wrong either. They've just changed their target audience in the last year and may well suffer because of it. It's no longer to my taste. I can live with that but that won't stop me voicing my disappointment at the tack they are now sailing

The fact that mumfords are fake folk says nothing about their massive popularity amongst those who would deem their tastes as credible.

As for the rest, I'm seeing no change in target audience or booking policy, I'm only seeing t respond to musical fashions as its always done - else it wouldn't have been stuffed full of indie landfill for years, cos that was the fashion too.

Obviously not all those could headline NME, but the argument that there just aren't good guitar bands out there is rubbish.
