The main thing i look forward to at TITP now is being able to see a few smaller bands that i wouldnt be able to see if the big names were all excellent, there are always plenty of bands i would go and see even if i havnt heard of them before they are announced

Times have definitely changed but im actually feeling strangely upbeat after having gave it a good think

They still haven't sold out the December pre-sales with their new pop lineup, judging by the Ticketmaster emails the other day.

Personally I'd see smaller bands as long as I get my money's worth overall. For £200+ I expect to see several bands I'd pay for to break even. Hard Rock calling was far better value for money for me last year and it only had two stages.

I think I counted 3 bands I wanted to see at T in 2012 and they were all bands playing up to 1500

people on their own tours. So far I see zero at T2013.

I dunno if you've noticed but the "small stages" have been disappearing over time too.

I think that's something that might have to become fairly common for all the bigger festivals over the next few years.

I've never felt that so many stages would be sustainable, because that gets to mean that any fest chews thru the bands that are available too quickly - meaning that eventually there's too few 'fresh' acts to keep the festival interesting.

Then again, devilman doesn't want fresh acts, he wants the same line-up from ten years ago repeated ad infinitum. :P
