Organised by long-time promoter Jim Driver and his experienced team, Rhythm Festivals 2012 enriches the August Bank Holiday Weekend in the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside at Old Warden Park, a mile or so from the A1 near Biggleswade. And it's not just about the music. Rhythm Festivals Comedy (available to all) includes the likes of John Cooper Clarke, Ardal O'Hanlon (Dougal in Father Ted), Chris Lynam and a rare outing for The Greatest Show on Legs. Our Theatre Stage features two performances of Vivian Stanshall's Sir Henry at Rawlinson's End exactly a month before the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the Bonzo DogDoo-Dah Band we have the funniest surviving members performinga full classic set as Three Bonzos and A Piano. Poetry and literary events in Madam Miaow's Culture Lounge include performances and readings by Wilko Johnson (who also headlines the Blues Stage on Friday), Charles Shaar Murray and Clash Roadie Johnny Green amongst many others. Who needs Mark Kermode to programme your Cinema? The solar-powered Groovy Movie Picture House will be showcasing new and classic movies all weekend, including special screenings of Children. Talking of children, the younger festival-goers have masses to entertain them: they can learn circus skills, get involved with puppetry and more at the Panic Circus, run, jump and skip at Steve Stredwick's famous Junior Olympics and organized football matches and bags more. And a fun fair, of course… Samantha Jean Scuffham returns with her Secret Showcase, featuring up-to-the-minute performers running into the early hours all weekend. We haveDJ Wheelie Bag playing classic Ska, 60s and Rhythm & Blues as well as dishing out outrageous prizes in the Tavern Bar; Night-Time DJs (until 2am) and lots more. Then there's all the other stuff we're still working on and so can't really tell you about… All our caterers are hand-picked, offering delicious Thai, Mexican, Indian curries, sausages and mash, own-farm burgers, veggie and oodles more Food at prices that are the lowest at any festival in the UK (you'll also find the best cup of coffee outside Twin Peaks and truly scrumptious farmhouse ice creams from Norfolk Farm – yum yum!). Three bars offer a huge range of real ales and ciders plus all the usual stuff including (99% certain) a comprehensively stocked wine bar. Need I say more? If there's a better way to spend the August Bank Holiday we've yet to devise it. To foster the festival spirit we've done away with day tickets. Toddlers under 5 and parking are free. Provided your car stays put all weekend, you can park it right next to your tent.
