OK given that ticket sales are slower this year, and we are fed up with debating that, heres a thread for all those questions, travel, news about beer, food stalls etc etc

The Steam Fair: It looks lovely but to be honest I arrived on Thurs and left on mon last year and it did not seem to impact on the traffic. I came on the road from Salisbury south of the site and it was very hassle free.

Camping: Last year the was much speculation that not very people would turn up on the thursday, it was actually pretty busy, but there was still lots of space on the friday morning. You may have to walk just a little bit further into the campsite

Childrens Camping last year was just inside the entrance, lets hope that this year the signage is better but if you don't want to be entertained by kids at 6am prob best to check where it is before pitching.

And for anyone who hasn't yet seen the fb page, THE ROCKY ROAD OF DOOM RIP. Yes they actually have improved the road, Thank You. Rocky Road Rick will be performing the opening ceremony at 2pm on thursday free drinks for all !!!!

How does it work with the separation of camping and stages?

Obviously a lot of festivals put a gate inbetween (so that they can frisk you for booze!) but I read that there was no restriction on bringing alcohol, so wondered if that meant they weren't separated.

I would second PP's point about family/non family camping. I made the mistake of camping in the family area last year. My own fault I suppose, but only realised once we were fully set up, and by that stage couldn't be bothered to move. Had I known about the very early wakeup calls we would go on to recieve for the next 4 days I would have done before the campsite got busy.

Better signage this year please, preferably visible from the entrance so we know where not to camp..

Other than that, I will be getting the shuttle bus from salisbury station, as I have done on other occaisions with minimal difficulty. I thought there was a noticable increase in traffic last year, but only slight, and barely significant.

I don't remember the rocky road being that bad last year (my mountain goat qualities coming in to play), but others clearly did. Very nice to see the organisers taking note and improving it for us.

And the beer. Well the beer is excellent. And there's lots of it.

Not long now.....

Can I ask a question please?

So, I went to Larmer Tree Festival a few weeks ago.

Has anyone been to both? are the stages/tents and that more or less in the same place or is the layout totally different?

Thanks

Is family camping really that bad? Our friends are taking their (nearly) 2 year old this year and are planning on camping in family. We are considering joining them, but we like the close proximity we get to the main arena with our usual spot, and could probably do without screaming babies.

like anywhere when festival camping, depends what luck you get.

i'm usually okay, but last year i did exactly what Matt says above - and ended up with a group of 5am (finish) shrieky teens one side and a baby wailing from 6am on the other :(

safe to say, i did move on friday morning!

Hi, we will be camping together again. The facebook group is "End of the Road - Happy Campers!". You have to ask to join.

Generally we camp somewhere near to Tangarine Fields - as this gives a good marker.

This is our flag:

Even if you don't end up camping with us pop along and say hello!

Hi all

Quick question - did anyone use the "quiet camping" area last year? Any idea where it is and if it was actually quiet?

Many thanks

Mark
