Riverlodge? Cortezuk is driving down on the thursday night and may not make it in time to get thru the gates before they close at 10pm (into the car park) I don't think that it was a discussion about what goes on inside the festival on the thursday night. Although I am sure that you and RRR and the other grumpy campers will be tucked up in your sleeping bags by 9pm in the Seniors Camping Area

I've also asked to join if that's alright.

Thank you very much to whoever approved me. Sorry, Can never match usernames to real people. Throw in twitter names as well and it's chaos. But in a good way.

So, I got another question. Well more of a rambling, badly punctuated, mis-spelt stream of nonsense in search of coherence, really.

Do most people arrive on the Thursday or the Friday? We were planning to head down on Thursday, aiming to get there in the afternoon. The only problem is that one of our group can't get there till later, and we'd all like to camp together. Is there a Glastonbury-esque land grab as soon as the gates open, and so are we going to be shit out of luck? Are there normally big queues to get in on Thursday afternoon?

Also, if people arrive on Thursday and there's just a couple of things going on in the evening (there's a few bands on Thursday evening, right?) does this mean that these events are massively crowded?

Sorry for being a bit dopey, just, y'know, don't really know what to expect, and all advice is welcome.

My impression is that slightly more people arrive Thursday than Friday but there's not much in it. No massive scramble for space - because there's simply not that many people and there is plenty of room. Though of course it does get busier the closer to the arena you try to go - but nowhere's that far from the arena anyway.

Thursday bands do get a bit packed (can't say about the cinema) but its not that bad - I think cos most people pitch up, eat, drink and chat and don't bother too much about what's going on.

It's all too chilled to get that intense.

You should be alright saving space for Friday as long as you're not too close to the 'arena'. All the ETOR'ers are pretty chiilled and chatty and there's no desparate panic for a space of grass, so I reckon you'll be fine.

Thursday night is mainly about wandering and having a beer. I've never found the tents with stuff on tooooo busy at all.

Thanks everyone, hopefully we'll be alright then. I think 3 of us are looking to come down at about 3ish on Thursday, with another friend arriving about an hour later. That's stopped me fretting quite so much. Appreciate your advice. Thank you.
