as the title says, i'm not too excited for this year but hopefully this'll make me more excited

Here's mine

  • Touche Amore - Great band pretty big in the US hardcore community, heard they're great live too and i missed out on their tour earlier this year due to spending my money on a Leeds ticket

  • At The Drive in - been listening to them for a few years now and im really glad they're headlining the NME tent, after watching their set from BDO on Youtube and hopefully they still fuck this up in their old age :P

  • Don Broco - What can i say they're my faveourite band, seen then 5 times this year alone this'll be the 6th, even going to see these over Grimes

  • The Cribs - great live band and its one of the few bands i'm going to see with a load of me mates, should be a great laugh

  • Enter Shikari- I've heard theyre new stuff live twice this year and it sounds great can't wait for it to give it its Leeds debut

Top Posters In This Topic

Pulled Apart By Horses

Essentially Reading/Leeds' poster boys right now, they're incredible on record and their live performances are visceral, aggressive, and the most fun.

Sleigh Bells

Need an alternative to a bunch of old, sweaty goths on the mainstage? Head to the Festival Republic tent because Sleigh Bells are guaranteed to give you a good show, with intense, heavy tracks that will rip the tent from the ground.

OFWGKTA

As punk as it gets without leather and boots. OF put on an awesome, awesome performance last year, and now with their esteemed best friend, Earl Sweatshirt back in the group, we may even get a rare performance from the expected GOAT.

Mastodon

SPLIT YOUR LUNGS IN BLOOD AND THUNDER, WHEN YOU SEE THE WHITE WHALE, BREAK YOUR BACKS AND CRACK YOUR OARS MEN, IF YOU WISH TO PREVAIL!

DZ Deathrays

If you didn't see Death From Above 1979 last year, it's probably worth checking out Brisbane-bred DZ Deathrays. Pure riff based rock, with a focus on partys, drinking too much, and the Sun, they're almost Reading/Leeds personified in a band.

For me:

Band Of Skulls - Great Band, slightly surprised by how low they are on the bill

The Subways - I have always loved these guys but somehow I have never seen them live

Foo Fighters - No explanation needed

The Maccabees - Always loved the Maccabees and seen them a few times before, they have never dissapointed. I think that they have really grown with their knew album and I have not heard some of the knew songs live yet such as Pelican and feel to follow

The Cribs - Seen them a few times at Leeds, all of my mates will be keen to see them which is a bonus as I predict i will be alone during a lot of the bands.

Its not the best lineup for me and I am a bit gutted that Less Than Jake clash with Foo Fighters

The Gaslight Anthem - Seriously, this band is awesome. I can't wait to hear some of the new album live, they get better and better every time i see them.

Bouncing Souls - Been a fan of these for years but I've never managed to see them live. New album is great and its sure to be a lot of fun.

Foo Fighters - You'd have to be crazy to miss this, it will definitely be a real "i was there" moment.

The Hives - So much energy, they are going to be so good in the NME tent, should have probably been higher up though.

Feeder - Not a lot of bands i want to see on the Saturday but this should be a good sing along.

Foo Fighters- Do I need to explain?

BFMV- Had tickets to see them in Birmingham on their last tour but it was a real tough winter and couldn't get there due to trains being cancelled. Was gutted.

Enter Shikari- Had a chance to see them a couple years back but turned it down. Really looking forward to seeing them outdoors as everyone I know who has seen them has seen them indoors.

The Vaccines- Saw them supporting Arctic Monkeys last year and thought they were fantastic, great atmosphere. Looking forward to seeing the new songs performed live.

Twin Atlantic- Really got into them recently and have heard great things about their live shows.

Foo Fighters - They have an amazing live reputation (haven't heard anyone say their Milton Keynes show last year were anything less than five-star), they're huge band with loads of great songs plus I've never seen them before. A perfect way to end the festival. (Can't wait to hear... Everlong, Best Of You, The Pretender.)

Paramore - One of my favourite bands, and I haven't seen them in over a year and a half. They were somewhat mediocre last time they played Reading, but they've been amazing on the other occasions I've seen them. If they're at their best, they could really be this year's My Chemical Romance - steal the show and win over the doubters and haters. (Can't wait to hear... Decode, Misery Business, My Heart.)

Bullet For My Valentine - The biggest British metal band since Iron Maiden finally return to the Reading main stage, and it's about damn time. They're generally a very good live band and bring some much-needed heaviness to the Sunday. (Can't wait to hear... Hand Of Blood, All These Things I Hate, The Last Fight.)

Angels & Airwaves - Really been getting into this band over the last year or so, and I was supposed to be seeing them for the first time a few months back but ended up missing the show, so this will make up for that. (Can't wait to hear... The Adventure, Start The Machine, Saturday Love.)

You Me At Six - I was too drunk to remember much of their show in April and I missed them for Metallica at Download, so I'm particularly looking forward to seeing them at Reading. It'll be interesting to see if they can pull off a relatively high-profile slot like this. (Can't wait to hear... The Rumour, Underdog, Stay With Me.)

Foos - Obviously

Kasabian - One of my favourite live bands at the minute, they never disappoint

The Courteeners - Actually had tickets to see them twice and never made it to the gig so I need to see them at Leeds

The Black Keys - Been looking forward to seeing these since the announcement was made

The Hives - Who could not be excited by watching them in a tent?

  1. The Hives - my favourite band and have waited over 4 years since I last saw them to be able to see them again, incredible live and so entertaining with banter aswell. Shocked how low down they are

  2. Spector - Saw them in May and they were one of the best I've ever seen, great songs, great banter - so excited for the album tomorrow. Currently my second favourite band and to have them into The Hives is amazing.

  3. Kasabian - Seen them twice, put on an amazing show, interesting to see what kind of staging they might have

  4. Jake Bugg - This lads gonna be big!

  5. The Courteeners - Waited a while to see them, glad they're in the tent

The Cure- Resigned myself to never see them live.

Foo Fighters-Have a feeling this set could go down in Reading history. Not my favorite band in the world but they have the hits perfect for headlining festivals.

ATDI-Missed them at benicassim, heard good things about them, probably never going to see them again.

Black Keys- Best booking of the festival imo. Such a good band.

Mark Lanegan- Legend.

The Maccabees - I've been huge fans of these boys since they burst out of South London in 2007. I've seen them mature into one of the leading forces in indie rock and with their catchy hooks and captivating presence on stage, I'd have to have The Maccabees down as a must see artist at Leeds 2012.

Lucy Rose - After being enchanted by her talents on the latest Bombay Bicycle Club album (a band who were just shy of making my top 5), I began to instantaneously obsess over Lucy Rose. The cinematic tranquility of her music is sure to transcend beautifully into her live performance.

The Vaccines - Not really much to say about The Vaccines. I can't really pick out many negatives. They're tight live and the new stuff sounds really promising thus far.

Deaf Havana - These guys are somewhat of a musical anomaly for me. I've never really been into this particular style of music but after being hooked on their anthemic second record for the past 6 months or so I've been chomping at the bit to see if they can deliver as well live as they do in the studio.

SBTRKT - SBTRKT is just about the only guy flying the flag for house music in the mainstream at the moment and with good reason. After a faultless debut album he will surely deliver a set that just about anyone can dance to.

My Top Five!

The Maccabees - Truly amazing thrid album, never seen them live but watched videos on youtube of Orlando and the boys and I just sit with a smile on my face. I love Indie Rock and they are one of the best bands for it.

Dry The River - Shallow Bed is just beautiful and have only read and heard good things about their live performances. They have a twinge of Mumford and Sons of them but they are better in my opinion, they have more dignity and romance to their songs.

The Skints - I love finding new bands from the Leeds poster, and when i found these lot of was addicted to them instantly. From rap to reggae to soul they have the lot. Great songs very very good musicians and some quality tracks

Niki And The Dove - Florence will take the title of Queen of Leeds this year but watch out for this girl and her band.

The Black Keys - Listened to these two guys for years and they have just jumped into the UK market, never had the chance to see them and just like Elbow were last year, I feel that these will be the suprise package and will suprise and change opinions of a lot of people.

Getting Excited Now

Foos - Saw them twice last year and loved them both times, probably more so at T in a festival atmosphere.

The Hives - Been dying to see them since i had to miss them years ago

Cancer Bats - Cancelled flight meant I missed them at Download, then their set got cancelled so I arrived in time for their impromptu set at another stage and just stood angry and upset at Prodigy trying to enjoy myself. Completely oblivious to their apparently awesome performance. Gutted.

Kasabian - Been dying to see them since Empire, always been busy at work or too poor to see them.

The Cure - Should be good to hear some classics.

I'd have Paramore there if it hadn't been for how bad they were last time but I hold out hope.

1. The Cure. No contest.

2. Mark Lanegan. OK, there was some contest, but The Cure are playing 3x as long, so win on total awesomeness.

3. ATDI. One of my favourite bands, and I genuinely never believed they would actually reform.

4. Erm... Crystal Castles. They were only "really quite good" at Bestival last year, but experiences of seeing them at their own shows and in tents means I'm fairly optimistic. And the prospect of Robert Smith joining them for Not in Love is too awesome to miss out on, I doubt that'll too often.

5. Foos. More out of hope than expectation, but there's the chance this will be a legendary set and I don't want to miss that. They've been reasonable live every time in the past, but I'm hoping they've upped their game in the years since I last saw them.

Honourable mention to Mastodon, and Justice who I would be watching over Foos if they weren't at Bestival.

At the drive-in- yee hah, cannot believe this is happening.out of all the reformations over the years this is the one i didnt think would happen as mars volta were doing so well.

Social distortion- Cant decide which of my three social D t-shirts to wear.althogh my 'another state of mind' one seems to have ~ahem~shrunk since i last wore it.

Black keys- great band.looking forward to them big time

Mark Lanagan- what a legend,what a voice.saw him 19 years ago for screaming trees.awesome.

Mastodon- What a band! what an album the hunter is!

Foo's is a given so i havent included them.

Foo Fighters- So many good songs, should be an amazing singalong with all my mates, and they're meant to be pulling off something special as well!

The Gaslight Anthem- Loved them since I started listening to them, and since their album got to no.2 hopefully I won't be the only one who's gotten into them!

Feeder- As a Welshman I've been listening to Feeder all through my childhood, and their songs are played everywhere you go- should be great to finally see them live!

Kaiser Chiefs- Loads of famous songs and some personal favourites too, seem quite an energetic band as well so should be a good laugh!

The Courteeners- Got a really good sound to them, and got into them very quickly after giving them a proper go!

OFWGKTA - Will be my 3rd time seeing them, I think they're a great live and they the atmosphere last year when they was playing was amazing.

Enter Shikari - I love these guys, first ever heavy(ish) band I started listening too when their first album came out. Last year they was brutal, my favourite act of the whole weekend. (I was crowd surfing on a massive inflatable caterpillar for a lot of their set)

Of Monster & Men - Amazing band, what can I say, I really love their music. Easily my favourite new band that I've recently started listening too

Alt-J - Really love their sound, very unique band and should be decent live.

Crystal Castles - They blew me away last year, I didn't even mean to see them, I was just there because my friends were and I didn't fancy seeing anyone else who was playing the same time. Ever since, I've been a fan. (Hopefully they'll do Not In Love with Robert Smith)

Feed Me - been waiting a while to see this guy, was a fan of Spor before he changed direction & moniker.

Modestep - love this band, looking forward to a ravey moshpit.

Enter Shikari - love this band, will probably watch from the back but like how you can dance & rock to their music.

Foo Fighters - going to be brilliant, got excited over a year ago when watching Radio 1 Big Weekend highlights & can't remember them in 2005.
