Izbiz
Hi all, thought someone here might know something about this! I've just won 2 guest tickets for Reading (aeklgenglakbjjhkfa) but the ticket was actually won in my mum's name (yeah, I might have entered her for a cheeky extra entry)... I'm going to go with a friend, but the letter that came with the tickets specifies that we need to write guest names on the tickets. Would they be funny about the winners name (my mum's name) not being on the ticket? The letter states 'non transferable/refundable etc', but then they never asked for guests' names/who the second ticket will be used by. I'm going to email them and ask, but we've got the same surname, so I assume it won't be too much of a problem? Anyone have any experience with this? mrtourette
No experience, but I guess the 'non-transferable' refers to putting your name on and giving them to someone else. If your name is the first one on there and you're using them then I'd imagine it'll be fine.
paulomas
i won guest tickets last year through a competition and they wanted to have both names in advance so they could write them on the back of the tickets. when i got to the guest list cabin at the festival they never asked to see any ID to check the names matched with the people. if the letter is telling you to write the names on yourself, just write the names of you and your friend and it should be fine. they won't ask to look at the letter at the cabin
willutalk
I could imagine you could blag, they aren't too strict on VIP/guest. You could always get your mum to phone you while at the ticket drop in point or to sign a piece of paper. Non-refundable simply means that you cannot exchange tickets for money I think. evilduck
Whenever I've picked up guest tickets, they have never asked me for ID to prove I am that person. I'm assuming they just tick you off the list and let you in.
Yellow_Fellow
yeah you just say you're there under whoever. that's how it used to work before 09 i know that much!
glasto-worker
I worked in the guest list cabin many years ago { I was transferred over due to them being short staffed } and the important name { in this situation } is the winner who is technically is your mother so I would let the Competition Holders know and get them to update the FR List. Its the FR list which is important as we did have a few jokers show up and give a name of say a music journalist who in fact was on the list but they did not have any id on them so I reckon they were chancing their arm. If say the list had a John Smith on it and a guy showed id for a Bert Smith then I would have told him he was out of luck because the name has to match the list. best to get it sorted out in advance although if you already have tickets then it may be easier. Yellow_Fellow
There's no such thing as a guest ticket.

Yellow_Fellow
Between 2007 & 2009, I had never seen a guest ticket. I you'd just go to the desk and say who it was under. Mum still goes guest, and she didn't get one last year.. or the year before..
glasto-worker
i have a friend who is looking to buy a guest ticket on ebay coz the only people he knows that are going have guest tickets. what's the rule with people coming to the cabin with a guest ticket in their hand? do they still have to be on an actual list? for example, if i worked at Sony Music and i had a guest ticket in hand, would my name still have to be matched with names on a list given to FR from Sony before I could be given a wristband? Izbiz
Thanks guys, I had decided to just go with the flow but I think I will email them now just to be sure. Guest tickets do indeed exist, they look very different to the normal ones.
Chihiro Cheeks
You will be fine. Have had guest ones since 05 and no one has ever checked. Dont even think they have looked at the name on the ticket. They dont check them off against a list so I wouldnt worry. Although you could just email them to make you feel better! lol
