Hey guys.

After reading about Green day playing the whole of Dookie at reading i was thinking about how much i enjoyed hearing the whole of origin of symphony last year (muse). I was wondering, like this isn't obviously a new thing, but is it something that we'd like to see more?

Also has anyone got a little wish list?

for example i'd love to see

The Killers: hot fuzz

Arctic Monkeys: what ever people say i am i'm not

Radiohead: Ok computer

Linking Park: Hybrid theory

Kings of leon: Youth young & manhood

(btw I've not put in stuff like 'pink Floyd dark side of the moon, because its very unlikly it'll happen... at least not anytime soon)

I'll second the calls for Holy Bible, OK Computer and Dummy. Vespertine as well, but mainly because I don't want to hear her drone Biophilia again.

Wouldn't be too fussed about Disintegration, while its a wonderful album, I love that when seeing The Cure you don't know which amazing songs you're going to get, and it seems to get a good appreciation in the setlists anyway. I'd rather Pornography between the songs being rarer and it being shorter.

Here's some I'd love to see:

Ten

Songs for the Deaf

Murder Ballads

Illinois

Remain in Light (probably the most unrealistic imaginable of bands that aren't dead)

Yoshimi

Toxicity

Young Team

Odelay

Who's Next

Lateralus

Low (yeah, that's not going to happen either)

In the Court of the Crimson king

Sound of Silver

Mezzazine

Without You I'm Nothing

The Campfire Headphase

I'll stop before I fill up the page....

Actually no, I'll brag about some excellent ones I've seen first:

Screamadelica

Perfect from Now On

Origin of Symmetry

Daydream Nation

Doolittle

Raw Power

Black Album

Fear of a Blank Planet

Age of Adz

The Wall (Roger Waters, not the full band)

Soft Bulletin

Bug

Suicide

Slipknot - IOWA Yes

Green Day - American Idiot, I do like the sounds of this but at the same time i feel this would just be the american idiot musical, rather would see Dookie

MCR - The Black Parade, saw MCR on this tour and was very impressed by it, i know it came out like 6 years ago but seems too soon though

Sum 41 - All Killer, No Filler, not gonna lie, surly Sum 41s sets are mostly this album?

Muse - Absolution fuck yes, defiantly my Favorite muse album.

Arcade Fire - Funeral fuck yes, would be epi

Keane - Hopes and Fears. really? like i like the album but does it really have any ambiance to it?

The Time. I shall go listen to these album on spotify...

kaosmark: Have to say: how the fuck did i forget about song for the deaf! but yes i'd also love to see young team (kinda need to see mogwai, their quite high up on the list) Sound of silver is also a exellent shout!! (the other ones i'm sure are excellent but i don't know them that well (and some not at all :/) so don't wanna be some dick who tries to comment on what he does not know)

Mogwai are stunning live. Saw them twice last year, absolutely amazing. Listen to the other albums! They're all excellent.

The Doolittle shows were probably the 2nd weakest of the album shows I saw and enjoyed. They were good, and it's an amazing album, but the Pixies live isn't as magical an experience as most of the other album shows I've been to. That said, there are a few poor ones I've been to. Bjork doing Biophilia, Groove Armada doing Black Light, I felt Thick as a Brick was very average.

Bjork didnt do an album show though, she just played stuff promoting the new album. She still played other stuff on the tour.

Bjork would never do album shows as she very rarely goes back to her old stuff. When you think her biggest song everyone knows oh so quiet has only been played in this country twice and not for about 15 years.

This is basically 'What are your favourite albums?', isn't it? :P

Anyway, my vote goes to Bloc Party headlining playing Silent Alarm in reverse.

EDIT: By which I mean have the running order of the tracks in reverse, not actually having each song go from back to front (although if any band could pull that off it would be...unlistenable, but simultaneously incredible :P).

TBH I've started to get jaded with bands playing albums in full, it use to be their iconic albums but Mastadon were meant to playing their new album in full at Soni and Monster Magnet are gonna be playing Spines Of Death on their next tour in full despite their 2 best/iconic albums being Powertrip & Dopes To Infinity.

Am i the only one who doesnt like bands playing albums in their entirety?

i like the fact that you dont know what song is coming next and ive even avoided looking at setlists on the internet before i go to a gig.

for this reason i dont want them to play the album in its entirety and especially not in order.its even getting to the point now where people are saying 'i'll pop out for a fag and you get the beers in at track six cos i always skip that one when i play the album' ha ha

Pearl Jam - Ten

Tool - AEnima

Blink 182 - Enema Of The State

A lot less likely, but would be incredible

Guns N' Roses (classic line-up) Appetite For Destruction

I don't really like those kind of sets, unless they are playing it for a really good reason. That said I did really love it when Manics did the whole of Journal for Plague Lovers, but thats probably because it's a fantastic album and they've hardly played any of the tracks since.

It depends on the band and the album. For some bands I think it'd be pretty pointless, they play their hits, their best albums get plenty of appreciation in their setlists, and ultimately, it'll just be a slightly gimmicky thing. I mean, if AC/DC did Back in Black it'd be pretty pointless, they play the big hits off it anyway, and it's not exactly got a coherent theme to it.

While I enjoyed Doolittle and The Black Album, I don't think they were special sets, any better than when the same band just plays a bunch of hits.

However, there are albums with a theme and a style that works excellently in order, or other albums that don't tend to get much play from bands more interested in playing newer stuff. I enjoyed the Daydream Nation shows far more than I have other SY sets. After an incredibly mediocre performance from the Lips back in 07/08, it took The Soft Bulletin for me to give them another chance live, and FUCK ME that was awesome. Watching Roger Waters do The Wall last year was incredibly special, I don't give a damn about his solo stuff, I wanted to see him do a coherent, epic, thematic Floyd show with appropriate effects, and I got more than that, I got an absolutely stunning thematic show, displaying what that album defines and means in its entirety.

There's a few on my list that are just cracking albums full of great songs (Ten, SftD, Sound of Silver), but most of the ones I requested have a specific feel to them, where I believe the order accentuates and improves the joy of listening to it. There are some albums you can stick on random and enjoy just as much, there are others where the ebb and flow matters.

And of course, there are some albums which are just leagues better than more recent stuff, and I wouldn't even consider going to see the band unless there was a commitment to play a selection of their songs that are actually good *cough* Muse *cough*.
