Gucci Piggy
I see The Killers subbed by Mumfords as a like for like equivalent of Kasabian subbed by Flo this year in terms of style/audience/size. I think that will happen.

YumYum
The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, The Darkness,Linkin Park & Razorlight all only had 2 Albums when they headlined.
dip
I'd take Mumford and Sons headlining if they then preceded to do a Razorlight.

Babyquack
I've only got into Mumford recently - are they really big enough to headline? Yeah, I understand that they've sold loads of albums but does that necessarily mean they ought to headline? To be honest though, I'd love them to headline so I can't really talk

cheeseisamazing
Shhh, we are not allowed to talk about if they are big enough to headline or not and must just accept that they are as per the rules of the thread!
thetime
They would sell tickets, there crowd seem obsessed with them. When I saw them at werchter there were a fair few girls in tears watching them.

thetime
I saw the same thing with Plain White T on the Lock Up stage at Reading, girls blubbering because an act they paid to see was actually on stage. It doesn't make them headliners tho.
Bisque
So... Mumford and Sons Won't Headline R/L 2013 Big band yes, but surely more established acts to head with them sub. Think they will be at Glasto(& R+L) next near so wouldn't be a Melvin "exclusive" but could do the Park Stage.
alex28
I see what you're saying but I'm sure they will sub to The Killers or whoever headlines the saturday. I'm sure they will also play glasto etc. Doubt Reading will take that risk again after Razorlight too, they have learnt their lesson! allan14
Mumford are a huge pull, they could sell loads of tickets for the festival depending on how much they tour? if the new album does half aswell as there first and melvin can get them on exclusive then they will headline. Why wouldnt they, they would have everything which is needed from a headliner? I just hope that the Lock-up is on that day.

allan14
Yeah i wasnt trying to say that they would play, i was just saying in the situation that they there new album sold well and they agreed to be book as a exclusive then they would headline. If that wasnt the case then they will sub, if they play at all ofcourse. Yeah they are just as likely to play V i guess.
jump
There are two very big ifs in there. I don't see them as any different from Florence - big selling but will do their own tour and will probably want to do other festivals and that will seal their fate as subs rather than headliners. V will also be battling for them as well so it depends how badly each party wants them.
thetime
Speaking of which they have confirmed they are touring the UK at the end of the year. Their legion of teenage girl fans must be pleased.

2rare2die
Mumford are a lot bigger than them but Razorlight did their job, both weekend and day tixs were sold out. My Chemical Romance on the other hand...

willutalk
If or when Mumford and Sons headline Reading and Leeds I know that the festival is really on a low. At a festival where Slayer have played I would struggle to put it into words.
