LEMON_WOLF
To be honest I think they are pretty likely to headline, they're certainly popular enough
mrtourette
It begins... http://www.nme.com/n...-and-sons/66392 Someone did say (on the lines of 'but surly mumford and sons would play lots of festival dates instead of just one' Its like saying to a kid, Would you like a couple of little cakes OR THIS MOTHERFUCKING HUGE CHOCOLATE CAKE Admittedly some kids are special and would pick the little cakes... the wonderwhy
Tour sold out quickly too, quicker than Flo I believe. Although they may be playing slightly small venues... Obviously not really enough to give them headliner status just yet, but shows their popularity just keeps on increasing. I'm still betting on them subbing Reading/maybe Glasto, and then headlining Bestival.
Chinaski_
I hope they're nowhere near Bestival. They're the type of band I could see at Hard Rock Calling.
cheeseisamazing
Bit it early to say I told you so, that's not really proof that they are gonna headline.

Andy0808 v3.0
As much as i do like Mumford, and as they get bigger i know it gets more dangerous.. but there are some things better left to a tent. When i saw them support Arcade Fire in Hyde Park last year, it just didn't sound right on such a big stage.

Dan R
With the rate the tickets for the tour sold out, and the fact this album has already done very well, I really think they could headline. And I don't see a problem with that tbh. The worst critism they seem to get is that theyre a bit bland, but theyre far from the evil that a lot of people on here seem to make them out to be. LondonTom
Yep , you have to give the people what they want , you cannot pleae everyone but they would certainly shift tickets - and for the haters - jesus a 2 hour set over 3 days would not ruin anyones festival !! jump
Being a headliner isn't simply about shifting tixs, one of the big things that will go against them is their reviews of headlining Rockness being very mixed.
ivan
Would they not shift tickets as a sub? I think it really depends if they want to be everywhere or make the step up and headline Reading/Leeds exclusively. From what I've read, they don't seem to be a band who would care that much about stepping this year.

jump
Is that a criteria? I cant see organisers thinking they will sell out the festival but are shit live so we cant possibly book them. I actully think there good live and would nake a superb headliner especially the predictable bands being mentioned.
5co77ie
Imagine for a moment that if it's possible that it's AC/DC too - then talk about a varied line-up, that's what you call all ends of the musical spectrum!
thetime
Yep, Glasto has turned down acts based on their (subjective opinion) poor live shows and Melvin Benn said something along the lines of booking the right headliners after Chili Peppers 2 hour jam snore sessions but what your saying is off as Mumford can be booked as non-headliners. jump
Glasto is a but different though, there tickets are not sold by bands playing. We will see that when it sells out on sunday. They could be booked as non headliner but that would depend on the calibre of headliner they have playing. I cant see them headlining but they would pull it of if they did. thetime
Depends on what you mean by pulling it off but the reports of Mumford headlining Rockness weren't great and I'm unconvinced from seeing Mumford live. mrtourette
I'd be surprised if they didn't take the overriding feeling from punters, reviewers and organisers into account. They certainly did with RHCP and you'll still find people who claimed it was a great gig.
