I read that to mean they had confirmed on saturday? not that he was announcing the headliner on saturday

Definitely big enough, but Bestival don't normally go for the same acts playing two years in a row in a similar slot...

nah, it's just a guess, based on where I'm guessing they'll be by this time next year.

While he might not normally go for the same act 2 years in a row, I'd say that he booked next year's headliner during this year's festival strongly suggests to me that this time he has done (even if my guess is wrong and it's not The XX but someone else).

yeah the fact he confirmed it during the festival suggests it's a band that played the festival, and the most likely act is the xx.

They ( apparently) got the largest ever Bestival crowd for a main stage act, though god knows who they are able to tell that sort of thing.

I didn't see what size crowd The xx got, but it certainly wasn't dead everywhere else like it was when Stevie Wonder was on. I got back from watching El-P with about 100 other people, to find probably 45,000 people watching the main stage.

Stevie definitely had a bigger crowd than the XX, or at least it seemed like that from where we were!

This ties in with what I heard on Saturday about Elton John being there having a look around before signing up for the 10th anniversary. Not saying I believe it but I was told by someone with a backstage wristband who claimed to have seen Elton.

I'm guessing that "Elton is backstage" is a standard crew joke, as it's been heard at Bestival in previous years.

Others like The Knife, Animal Collective, M83 will show up.
