Oh, I'm happy Mumford & Sons are out of the running! Yeah I don't see it being Prince mainly because I guess Elton would have cost a lot. I'd love it to be someone totally out of the blue like Diana Ross.

I can't remember what RDB said about the XX returning? They're not at R&L & they seem to be headlining everywhere they go...

on the saturday of bestival last year, he tweeted saying he had booked a headliner for next year and i think people must have jumped to conclusions and thought it had to be someone who had just played on the friday as he quickly tweeted again to say it wasn't The xx.

i think it needs to be a guitar band on friday night. chase and status would be rubbish. it would be wicked if it was arcade fire, pulp, the strokes, phoenix or the yeah yeah yeahs

I thought they'd been ruled out, but I saw them on the Pukkelpop poster with Franz Ferdinand & The Knife below them & thought hmmmm maybe.

The Strokes must be in the running? Taken a bit of a hit since they headlined Reading and so probably wouldn't be too expensive. Got the new album out & obviously waiting until that's dropped before they release dates. All depends on when they're in Europe...

Something keeps bringing me back to Vampire Weekend... They aren't playing any other major UK festivals & everyone expected them to be at T in the Park & R&L but they're not. They'll have a new album to promote & it could explain why they're not doing the Gentlemen of the Road tour in the US...

I can't see Rob booking The Strokes to headline, they're just too ordinary a band. As for Vampire Weekend, are they really still big/popular/cool enough to headline?

My money's still on Nick Cave (and it would be great if Grinderman were also on the bill). But Chase & Status are a possibility and I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Queens of the Stone Age have only been announced for Download so far, but not as an exclusive. If they were doing Reading/Leeds or Hard Rock Calling I'd have expected them to have been announced by now, so that really only leaves Glastonbury or Bestival. They'd be a surprise headliner for Bestival, but I can see it as a possibility.

well Elton couldn't have been that cheap , but seems a bit silly not to spend a bit extra on this years headliners if they keep reminding us it's the 10th year celebrations

Now...I heard a rumour in September last year which I was going to post up at the time but didn't believe my friend at all and assumed he had heard his Auntie wrong but here goes, he was told by his aunt who drives various vehicles on the Isle of Wight (taxis etc) she apparently took Elton and Prince in the same cab off sure on the Sunday.

I personally think it could have been Elton and she mistook one of his minions as Prince because why are they sharing a car off site? Either way it is probably all bollocks but just thought I would toss that snippet of hearsay I had into the hat
