i find it slightly ironic and humorous that microsoft, one of the richest companies in the world, have succumbed to greed. this DRM malarkey has backfired drastically. Sony stuck the boot in hard and have come out of e3 looking like heroes haha. be interesting to see how both consoles sell...

ive always been a playstation fanboy through and through, and i find myself loving sony more than ever. that instructional video on how to share a game is hilarious. i was going to wait a year or 2 until purchasing one so that the game support is there. but i think its a day 1 purchase now... take my money sony, take it....

Thats exactly why they implemented it. To tie you in. Fuck them, you know you beat cod4 on vet, you don't need a badge!

Meh I'll probably wait about 6 months after they get released until I buy one of the consoles. You never know xbox could pull out something amazing last minute. Maybe I'm just being a fanboy cos I've never owned a playstation. Always had an xbox (including the original xbox). Plus I'll be playing GTA 5 all winter. :P

I honestly think MS have to rethink, and completely backpedal on their choices or they are truly fucked. I know a fair few xbox devotees (myself included) who are not even looking at the xbox one after all of the DRM etc bullshit. there might be a few diehard xbots who still insist that MS is best, but seriously MS are fucked if they dont do a complete u-turn on their plans before launch.

Even if MS roll back their plans - what they TRIED to do is what will stick with people. The fact they are TRYING to swing everything in favour of dour corporate dominance and TRYING to be as anti-consumer as possible is going to be enough to burn many, many bridges. That can't be undone, especially when Sony (and Nintendo) are offering up a far less dystopian vision of the future.

In many regards the Xbone is ahead of its time, like a shit Dreamcast. People aren't quite ready for a grim future straight out of George Orwell's darkest nightmares right now. Give it another 10-20 years then try this, we might all be drugged up half-cyborg drones and more accommodating.

It's a bit like the Philips CD-I. Remember that? All singing all dancing box that did everything - the one box to rule them all. Good luck with that.

Sony are a bit like a middle aged business man - set in his ways a bit, but pretty reliable. Nintendo is like the doddering old crackpot who's gone a bit senile and goes around in circles trying to keep up but always means well. Microsoft always were a bit Patrick Bateman - but now they're running around naked with a chainsaw.

I think Purple Monkey summed it up well....

I get the feeling the whole Xbox thing is being over exaggerated atm by the media and Sony Fan boys, the majority of xbox players must be online once every 24 hours anyway and DRM will eventually happen on Sony, I am thinking Microsoft is betting on the publishers wanting it and giving extra stuff so people go with Xbox.

The only trouble i have is the always online with the Kinenct, if I knew i could turn off the camara ...I'd be okish with Microsoft's offering none of it really effects me.

That said I am not really fussed about the next gen, I was hoping I would be, having got back into console gaming...but meh. I'll wait a yearish and see what offers are about I think!

Well Microsoft have backed down on windows 8.. apparently the start button is returning in 8.1. Their office "subscription service" though is a joke and I'm happily now using libre office though on windows 7. If steam for linux takes off I could happily dump them completely as chromes ie plugin works fine for active x stuff.

Also I find the fact that kinect is always watching you is kinda weird.

My xbox happens to be in my room, pointing at my bed. Imagine being in a party with someone or whatever and forgetting to turn your xbox off.. you get the ol porn out and your mate is watching you on his TV. Or someone working for MS even. Scary.

Judging by this thread I'm gonna buy 2 demand at Christmas is gonna outstrip supply and I can make some kids Christmas by offering him one of the sold out ones when there ain't a spare one left on the shelves.

That's what I hate about Sony they NEVER have enough product!

As someone who had an Xbox, and loved it, and has an Xbox 360, and loves it, and detests the Playstation controller.... I agree completely.

I won't be getting an Xbox One if it requires daily (or periodic) connection or if the Kinect cannot be disabled.

The world is in total agreement that ms have ballsed up with their strategy.

I'm not concerned with periodic connectivity, or even the requirement to be connected to the net to start a game for authentication purposes. I am opposed to a device which demands a connection AND a camera, that's some nefarious shit right there.

Amazon in the US have sold out of PS4 at launch, they say the next batch is due in stock December 31st!

http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/amazon-already-out-launch-edition-playstation-4-6C10311394

I was reading yesterday one UK retailer (was it Blockbuster? - not sure that's right) has said their pre-orders already outstrip their total allocation until 2014.

As I said earlier it's going to be like Cabbage Patch dolls all over again. I'm now tempted to get a third on order.

Im not gunna preorder a PS4 mainly due to the fact the demand will be so strong, everything will be as high cost as pos, so I'll wait until next year when hopefully theres some good bundles knocking about. Or if they are available in a great bundle this year maybe bite the bullet.

I just have so many PS3 games to play! I haven't got The Last of Us yet but I will, I'll wait until it goes on sale, everything always does, look at Tomb Raider, was half price after a month. God of War is well cheap now already too.

I'll be picking up Beyond Two Souls too later in the year, that looks brilliant.

And Tomb Raider if it hasn't gone on plus by the end of the year, I think it will tho
