NEXT GEN CONSOLES

I'm still residing there myself... It's been two years and I still haven't finished the main quest.

Cool :) this means I hopefully have at least 23 months more to look forward to :)

I am currently retrieving some horn for the grey beards - I haven't joined forces with anyone yet preferring to speak to people I meet and only killing if I have to. My horse though has other ideas, it goes storming in all hooves blazing! Lydia is helping me at the moment and she kicks ass. I absolutely love it. It's Zelda made way cooler.

I have still not finished the main quest after 2 years either. I always end up side tracked on side quests. I have come across some fantastic locations by doing this. I really should dig it out again, but I I am still unable to tear myself away from Spelunky.

Sigh

FIFA 14 has been launched as a "freemium" app on mobile. I was going to upgrade this year as I've got 12 on my phone and its reasonably enjoyable on mobile...but fuck "freemium" just let me buy the game for a fiver and be done with it! I want to know I've got access to the entire game before I invest time playing to be stopped by frickin' paywall!

Sainsburys doing FIFA £32.99 if you spend £30 instore. First of the supermarkets to say what their deal is. Bet Tesco will do it for £32 like they did with GTA

Oh sweet! Know where my mums doing the weekly shop at the weekend then!!! (That sounds rather child like:P)

Didn't see the offer about GTA before, would have got it otherwise! (Trying to control my spending on games :P)

The "freemium" model for mobile FIFA isn't quite what I thought it was, and it's £2.99 to have the kick off/manager modes turned on. Seems it's more for the shit that is Ultimate Team, which I don't play. Tot sure on the new touch controls yet though...bit odd!

Must still annoy parents and I don't like it but its not as bad what they have done with Madden where you need to purchase plays. (According to reports, so maybe its not quite what I think again.)

Microsoft made many poor decisions with the hardware and console design with the 360, which is why there are so many dead ones.

Sony have a better track record with quality in my opinion.

Personally I would avoid the initial models at release anyway and let others pay a premium price for ironing out the kinks.

Surprised no one has mentioned SteamOS, the fact that steam now allows you to share games with friends and family members and it appears that they are going for a multi-pronged strategy to get PC gaming as part of the same ecosystem as console gaming.

I'm really excited for SteamOS. The idea of booting my pc into an environment built for gaming without any of the background bloat to get the raw power of the hardware is going to be interesting.

I'm defecting from xbox to ps4, xbox stumbled out of the gate - have flip flopped all over the place, and I just think sony might have learnt their lesson from the initial mistakes with the ps3 and all the arrogance around "the power of teh cell" and "the next gen starts when we say it does" etc.

I prefer the humble approach that sony seem to be having. Plus I hate Kinect, and all it stands for.

My trust of M$ is basically in tatters now. They will introduce more and more sinister tactics in the future IMHO, despite the u-turns on used games and always connected etc.

Having had a PS3 for some years I would be wary of the switch. My online gaming experience (especially COD) is not good on the PS3. The games on the Xbox run much smoother. Also bear in mind Xbox will have dedicated servers straight away using the cloud, PS4 will be some time next year. And the main reason to buy the XBox is Titan Falls. This game is going to be epic and will probably be the game to finally break the COD franchise.

I was chatting about this is the pub last night. It's such a positive step. I'm really excited about it, but ultimately, while I'd love to be able to run linux, I need MS Office.

Gamestop are shite. Don't shop there. I cancelled the GTA order last Thursday however they have not refunded me yet and I've had to open a PayPal dispute. They think that they haven't charged me because they only charge people just before they ship the item. I doubt they will even reply to the dispute cos their communications are shit. They take over 2 days to reply to your emails and their phone lines are always down. Dick heads.

I am playing less and less online now anyway, I normally play COD for a couple of months, then get very bored of it. I like to play battlefield, but find I get left behind very quickly - I can be quite an accomplished player, but the level of competition is huge, and even a couple of days off can impact on your ability to compete pretty harshly.

The only thing I ever disliked about my 2 different times owning a PS3, was the fucking tiny controller, which appears to be better on the PS4.

And to be perfectly honest, my initial reaction to titanfall was a huge yawn, and I've seen nothing else so far that convinces me otherwise. The thing I am most looking forward to on next gen is The Divison, which is of course - cross platform.

I feel pretty excited about Titan Fall. I'm expecting good things as it the developers that were behind COD before the game went crap. It's no coincidence the game went crap after these guys left Infinity Ward.
