How is everyone making their money then? I've just been messing around online but now I want to buy a decent car and garage and all that but I only have 50,000 in my bank!

Rockstar are going to give you half a million as an apology for the shit online launch, so you should be quite rich over the next couple of weeks.

I'm getting frustratingly tempted by the new Pokemon. I really can't justify getting a new console, particularly given that there's no other exclusive games I particularly want on 3DS, but it's getting incredibly tempting. Sigh.

The new one is pretty decent, great graphics and they have ironed out a few annoying things from past games too but the main story still sucks.

Is there really no other games you want on a 3DS? Imo it already has a better selection of top quality games than both the Vita and DS.

It's not like I'd ever play pokemon for the story though. I'd struggle to compare to past games, I haven't been properly into it since gen 2. I played White through the main story then got a bit bored and sold it when I got an offer.

Not really. There's a few games I've heard good things about but nothing that I'd consider paying the game price for, let alone helping justify a new console. Are there any astounding recommendations you have?

I never got a Vita, but I love my DS-lite. Admittedly apart from a couple of games I've mostly played SNES remakes, but I still think it's fantastic. I maintain The World Ends With You is the greatest handheld game ever.

I lost interest in Pokemon around Ruby/Sapphire but I’ve got brothers aged 7 & 8 who’ve just got into it the last year or two and they have pulled me back in, for all the talk of it being a fad it’s a great game series.

I started playing World Ends With You after so many people rated it highly and it's quirky and intresting but I wouldn't say it's a classic, it may just be I'm not big into JRPG though.

Top of my list would be Lugis Mansion 2 as it plays great and has a lot of charm to it. Mario Kart 7, Fire Emblem Awakening, Kid Icarus Uprising, Super Mario 3D Land and the Professor Layton games are all really good games and Resident Evil Revelations, Zelda Ocarina of Time and Donkey Kong Country Returns even though are ports/were ported are great too. There's also new Zelda, Scribblenauts and Smash Bros coming soon too and the download games are really good with Shantae, Pullbox and Mighty Switch Force being some of my favourites original games and a few classics like Super Mario Bros 2 and Earthworm Jim serving the nostalgia fix.

TBH I doubt I'm gonna get a home console now with the 3DS games being so strong and my PC picking up all the big Xbox1 and PlayStation4 titles.

I didn't bother with Ruby and Sapphire or Gen 4 at all, I've got a cousin who stuck with pokemon each gen though and he's tempting me back into it. I think the other bits were a fad (CCG in particular, but to an extent the anime), but the games have lasting quality.

I love TWEWY, such innovative gameplay and a really cool story. It bites the collector and completionist in me as well, I find it a lot more engaging trying to fully complete this than any other game I've played in ages (possibly since I got 151 on pokemon red).

I've heard good things about Kid Icarus and Luigi's Mansion 2, but not quite good enough to tempt me into getting one.

There's no way I'll be getting a new home console, between my 360 and PC I've got enough on the new gaming front, and I've still got my N64 and PS2 and a catalogue on those to play through. Just feels like a waste of money I don't have to buy more hardware.

Still tempted by a 3DS and pokemon though...

I started playing The World Ends With You but I just couldn't get on with it at all. The controls were just so utterly bizzare. I thought they would click after a while but they never did and I gave up with it.

Well you can set the top screen to auto and just focus on the gestures on the touch screen. And you can pick pins that have gestures you like. I'm surprised they didn't click eventually.

well eurogamer have posted their first ps4 xboxone "faceoff" and the xbox doesnt come off massively well at all.

dunno if this gif will post properly in here

with Battlefield 4, the ps4 runs at 900p, xboxone runs at 720p and the ps4 still manages a better framerate. its all a bit geeky, and in the grand scheme of things means virtually nothing at this stage, but the fanboys are all over it.

after a bit of further reading on the subject, it looks like the fanboy wars are starting already. I'm a bit on the fence, Ive been toying with cancelling my ps4 order and sticking with the xbox, purely because live pisses all over psn, but I really dont know. and I know if I cancel my ps4 order, I wont get an xbox till january now.

the xbox appears to have better detail, but the back and forth arguing is making my head hurt, the fact that its "only" 720p over 900p should mean the ps4 should look better? I honestly dont know tbh. Its early days yet.

Never got this live pissing over PSN stuff - is it purely on the server type lag side you mean that? Cause while that is kinda true I doubt you can be sure it will hold as true for a new generation of consoles - and while both now require subscription the 'free' games and stuff of Playstation Plus make it a pretty awesome deal ahead of XBL.

PS4 is better hardware and I think that'll show quicker and more vividly then Ps3's better hardware did over Xbox 360 - but this is still in the grand scheme of things not a hugely vast differences in 'looks'.

Really you just gotta look at the games that are exclusive and decide from there - do you want Uncharted, Gran Turismo, InFamous and Killzone or Halo, Gears of War, Titanfall and Kinect stuff. Obviously look more into the depth of the exclusive line up - and having not owned a ps3 you probably don't know how awesome some games like InFamous and Uncharted are :P. But yeah. Also Ps4 will probably run multiplats better - albeit for now thats more speculation.

I've always been Sony so I'll get ps4 but I think in the grand scheme of things it makes little to no difference. They're both gonna have 95% of the same blockbuster games and while PS4 has better hardware and free games Xbox one has Live's servers and Kinect.

I've owned 3 ps3's and the online was shite. Nothing to do with server side lag- joining friends, creating parties and jumping in and out of games was far more straightforward and reliable on the xbox, and people actually talk to each other on xbl (not always a great thing I'll concede!)

Fair - a lot of that stuff is gonna be sorted for PS4 I think, albeit it's hard to be sure until release. The PS4 interface is definitely a lot more 'smooth' now it has a sensible amount of memory and cross game chat is added. Further all ps4s are bundled with a headset now, like the 360, so people should in theory be more talkative on the new console.

In all honesty I never noticed a difference but then I play with a group of mates who I talk to on Skype and games like FIFA and Battlefield have pretty elegent partying systems anyway *shrug*.
