BF4 is really enjoyable, I even took a look at the campaign (not something I normally bother with in a BF game) and it has a nice little story mode with some unlocks and is easily as well implemented as the campaign in say, COD ghosts, cinematic and fun.

Plenty of maps in this one, compared to the opening release of BF3 with it's paltry selection of maps. The engine looks amazing, the level of detail in the models, the animation and the physics work really well together. It was great fun flying helis last night.

In case anyone else is still on a last-get Xbox (the 360 one) and has Live! Gold... you now have two weeks in which to download Gears of Wars, and both bits of DLC, for the tidy sum of £0.00

I must have been one of the only people not to get or buy it, so it's a great little deal for me. Probably only me too...

It's way too early for anything to get too excited about just yet. It generally takes at least a year or two before someone manages to make a game that defines a console generation and on the basis that titles like GTA V, The last of us and such have been the benchmark of what this generation achieved there is quite a bar to meet.

I've put a lot of hours into BF4 this week. I hate to speak too soon, but DICE/EA have redeemed themselves with this offering. The CQB aspect plays really well and the vehicle based play is great, with plenty of maps suiting all game modes. I'm a particular fan of the helicopters.

Dont speak too soon on the "BF4 redeeming" bit. The game is still buggy as hell, something you don't really notice too much until you have played it a fair bit. The battlelog forums are full of complaints about crashes etc. I have never, ever quit a game, yet I have a 7% quit rate - this is due to game freezes and crashes. Aside from the fact that you lose valuable gained XP when you dont make it to the game end lobby, its fucking frustrating. I was playing a game of Rush on friday, and was absolutely killing. I got my first ever triple kill, and my k/d up to that point must have been about 5/2, the game froze, I lost a potential win bonus, ribbons, k/d improvement, skill improvement, and whatever unlocks I may have earned, as well as adding on a 1% to my "quit rate".

Another incredibly frustrating situation happened saturday. I was playing domination on lancang dam, we were winning by some margin, I got killed, and a squadmate revived me. I accepted the revive, but could not move, my character wasnt onscreen, the revive screen didnt disappear. All I could do was lay prone, looking at the ceiling whilst players ran around me carrying on their game. I couldnt choose "redeploy" from the pause screen, couldnt commit suicide, couldnt shoot or move. So I had to quit out of the game, where all of the above penalties came in again.

Pissed me off. When it works, its a shitload of fun. When it freezes and crashes - I could throw the c**t out of the window.

what are you playing on spindles? I'm on xbox

yay GoW :D Never actually played it, as I went off my xbox quite a bit at uni (Steam Sales/other ways of getting games on the laptop VS. paying 40 quid a game...mhmm), so its only been the last year or so I've started using it again.

I wonder if the download will work this time, I never quite managed to with Halo the other week. (I gave up trying in the end)

Absolutely not interested in anything on the two new next-gen machines. Resogun looks like fun, at a push, that's about it.

Far more into the Wii U. Despite it only having a handful of games, they're still beyond the dire selection on the other two consoles.

Yeah, I keep seeing ads for Super Mario 3D World and it makes me tempted to buy one far more anything Xbone or PS4 has. I even looked up the best deal for it but Wii U still just doesn't have enough games for me. Even when Mario Kart & Smash Bros come out I'm still not sure it'd be worth it although new Zelda will probably make me change my mind.

Enjoyed the computer games stuff on CH4 last night and only caught it by chance as I'm normally out. The Indy games documentary was superb.. really felt for all the developers.

Damn I forgot that was on. Going to have to watch it on catch up.

Really enjoying Guacamelee on the Vita. At least I was until I got to the insanely hard Javier Jaguar boss fight :banghead:

The Charlie Brooker thing was quite good (not up to his usual standard, but still nice to sit and nod and agree about some classics).

I'd really recommend watching Indie game - the movie, it gives fascinating insight into the characters of some of the more famous indie games of the last 5 years as well as introducing us to the legend that is Tommy.

Is Spelunky the game some of you have been playing [and raving about] on Vita?

Its £4.94 on PSN for plus users for the next 48 hrs.

Might grab it.

Buy it! Buy it now! I paid £10 for it an its the best £10 I have ever spent on a game. I haven't stopped playing it since I bought it several months ago.

What initially seems to be a simple collect-em-up platformer, slowly turns into something much, much deeper. Every single thing is designed to utter perfection. Most of the enemies may move in completely predictable ways, but they will still get you. And it will be your fault that they did. The randomly generated levels give you infinite replay value. The crazy items (jetpack and shotgun combo is my favourite). The crazy shopkeepers (don't piss them off)! The secrets (there are lots of secrets). The deaths (there will be lots of deaths). All the "just one more go!"s. And it looks gorgeous too.

They have also just introduced the Daily Challenge on Vita as well. Everyone gets one go at exactly the same set of levels, and there is a leaderboard for each day. Its a brilliant addition to the game. I did quite well a few days ago (about 80th on the leaderboard), but the next day I fell on some spikes on the first level and died with next to no score! Another reason you should get it is so that I have a friend to compare my scores against!

I am actually starting to think it is the best game ever made. I am not joking.

Buy it now.

Yep I think it should take just over 2 days, non stop as well! Possibly the worst thing about living in the countryside = shit internet speed.

Yes but think of all the wonderful fresh air.....

I don't think i could live somewhere with slow internet.......not after having fibre!...To think there was a time when I thought 1mbps was fast when I first got broadband.

I once beta tested a game called The Matrix Online, It came out just before we got broadband, so I downloaded the whole game on dial up (I think it's only about 6GB, seems small for a game now!) :ninja: The parents were not impressed with my hogging of the phone line :P
