NEXT GEN CONSOLES

Well Killlzone was a big disappointment. Didn't look as great as I though it would. COD Ghosts is a huge improvement over the ps3 version. So much clearer.

I guess it will be a while before we see them use the full power of the ps4

The multiplayer is really fun if you're into that, and it looks better then any multiplayer game I've played on PS3 while running a lot more smoothly. The single player looks good but isn't mind blowing - PS3 launch games like Resistance didn't look great compared to what came later though. The single player itself is pretty dreadful though, just not fun to play thus far albeit I gave up quite early.

I'm waiting on InFamous now I think, albeit FIFA 14 on PS4 tempts me - only heard good things!

A few years ago, mobile gaming was being heralded as the saviour of video gaming, and that no-one would want a games console any more. When 90% of the games are freemium wallet raping shit like this, then console gaming is still looking pretty healthy to me.

The problem is of course, when all gaming becomes "freemium". Nearly every MMO released now starts off as f2p or ends up that way. (Why most fans haven't realized they end up paying more in the freemium model than paying a monthly subscription for access to everything I don't know.)

And with normal games, "DLC" is becoming more and more part of the game rather than just acting like an expansion pack.

Multiplayer was ok but it's hard until you learned the maps. It didn't feel that smooth to me say compared to COD. I also got bored with the Single Player pretty early having to control that stupid owl thing.

Killzone was a massive letdown for me, sold it within a week and luckily got decent money for it, disappointed with call of duty too, I think its going to be the last one I buy, just the same old thing and all the maps seem huge , so full of campers

Loving BF4 though, looks fantastic on the ps4, if only I could be a little better at the multiplayer, I get hammered every time I go on it so now playing through the single player now they have fixed the save system, very annoyed to have spent a few hours on it only to learn the game doesn't save and sends you back to the start!

Downloaded outlast from ps+ last night, anyone played it yet?

BF4 MP is brutal, and nothing but experience will fix that. You must know the maps, otherwise you will just be wandering around like a headless chicken. You need to know the routes the enemy will be taking, and where the lines of sight are. Also, knowing the kit is essential, the support class's "Airburst" is an incredibly useful weapon, but if you dont know how to use it you are wasting your time equipping it. Ive also had some fun with the engineers "EOD Bot" yesterday, I managed to arm 3 or 4 MCOMs, and also get 3 kills in a row whilst defusing an MCOM.

I found a youtube series last night called "do you know battlefield 4?" and it had some great little tips for slightly more advanced players.

I have racked up over 130 hours now, but still have games where I simply cant do any good. A good opposing team can really pin you down if they organise themselves, but by the same token, a really evenly matched game is a thing of great beauty.

Well the Titanfall beta is brilliant. A real different slant on the fps. Incredibly well balanced, very easy to pick up and play. I only managed 3 games of Attrition because by the time it had downloaded and installed and I had been through the tutorial it was getting quite late.

It looks fantastic (as we would hope) and plays incredibly smoothly. I dont know how many maps there are in the full game, but the 2 on offer in the beta are very well designed, the titans are very powerful, but even as a footsoldier (or "pilot") they arent OP, as you can evade them into cover, and go places they simply cant access, you are also able to take them out fairly easily if you pick your approach and window of opportunity well.

My lad (10yo) got in from football training, watched me play my 3rd game, then jumped straight in to the 4th game in my place with no tutorial, no understanding of the controls, and still held his own during a frantic match.

If it plays as well on the 360 - and I hope it does, it is going to be huge.

I'm obviously going to get some more time with it when I get home from work today, and get right into the depths of the loadouts and learn the maps thoroughly. The scope for different map designs, locations, and game types is plentiful. I'm officially excited about the full game.

And you should be too.

This is the rumour of what next months plus is....

  • Dead Nation (PS4)
  • Tomb Raider (PS3)
  • Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (PS3)
  • Smart As (PS Vita)
  • Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD (PS Vita)
It's fast becoming the best thing I have ever paid for! Hope it is Tomb Raider, heard good things and I've been meaning to check it out. Don't mind at all if it is free.

Still waiting for a pc titanfall beta code

Got mine but it's not running on my PC. It's keeps using the onboad graphics card instead of my Nividea GTX660.

Even when I force it to use the GTX it ignores it. I guess thats why it's a Beta.

You do know the Beta is open to everything now?

I see microsoft are "testing" cheaper pricing for digital only sales. They are reducing Ryse to £34.99 on the xbox store from today. Only 2 problems there really. Firstly, I still think £35 is too much for a game with no physical product or the costs that go with retail, and no resale value. And its a shit game, that got reviewed badly, and is 4 months old.

I applaud them for considering that they are unrealistically pricing digital only, but FFS, try a realistic price point, with games people actually want to buy.

And Sony, take note.

edited to add, its worth noting, used copies of Ryse in most retailers are around £35.

My brother and I were discussing this, these companies want to push digi sales and see it as the future but price them above physical. What reason do they have for digi being more expensive than physical?

The main one I've seen is to not kill off retail, places like Game and HMV work as advertisement simply by having games on display and if they did lower the price of digi those places will do less buisness with them.

That makes sense. I mainly buy retail but with PSPLUS it is easier for me to download some games that are on offer there and then. We have one supermarket in my town so it means travelling 20 miles to anywhere with gaming shops. Edited by III
