NEXT GEN CONSOLES

I saw it at Sainsburys for a similar price.

Btw I've just spent about 2 hours setting up a repeater to boost the wifi signal to my room. We've just changed to bt and I've had no signal in my room for 3 weeks. After finally setting it up, testing my connection to the ps4 (think download was up to nearly 8mbps) I go to play my psn games and get the 'cannot connect to verify licence'

I can't believe psn is down after I spent all that time setting up to use it.

I know you've done it now, but if you ever need to upgrade/the repeater breaks I'd go with Powerline Adapters! They really do work like a charm and I get the full 38mbps line speed on mine (but I think does vary depending on how your electric wiring etc. is set up.)

yeah i've just read about it.

Also you guys seem to have given Watchdogs a lukewarm reception but i'm enjoying it so far. I like that i can go all stealthy on missions. Only done about 5 missions so far though.

that tends to be the way it goes. people are very "wow" for anywhere between 5-15 hours, and then that "wow" becomes "meh" pretty soon. People have told me that the hacking is ultimately very unsatisfying after a while, the driving is horrific, lack of melee, and a few other niggles mean it gets old pretty quickly.

Dont get me wrong, I'm glad you are enjoying it, I just havent spoken to anyone who can be arsed with it any more.

I am starting to think, I am easily pleased with open world games :P I've not really had any issues with Watch Dogs (apart from some of the take down a gang member missions, when you can't just kill the leader.)

I got the weekly Humble Bundle yesterday, simulator pack 2! I've wanted to get Universe Sandbox and play Tropico 4 for a while...but it included what seems a brilliant idea, Euro Truck Simulator 2! (with Fantasy Paint Jobs pack :P) ...(Also some sort of Baseball simulator and a resturant simulator! :P0

This is the thing, you wait 3-6 months and it goes down to £20ish, wait a year and it drops to not much over £10.

Yep, I'm currently doing that with Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright which was released last year but I've only seen it go as low as £25 so far. Considering all of the Layton games go for under £10 after a year or so after they are released I should be able to pick up at a decent price soon but the wait gets annoying.

So I've bought a second hand version of Battlefield 4 for the xbone. Is it just me or does it take a shit load of bullets to kill someone yet I get insta killed???

Looks pretty though.

Hahahaha, thats the first thing a n00b says!

But seriously, its a real baptism of fire to get into it. Start with TDM or domination, when there are no vehicles to worry about, and you dont play the full expanse of the maps, lets you get a little familiar with the maps, and you rank up quicker because of the faster pace of the games. pick a weapon wisely, and stick with it, because muzzle brakes etc do make a difference. Start with assault, because you can heal yourself whilst cowering in a corner. use cover wisely, and try to get headshots where you can, they give 1.5 damage. Most guns take 3 shots to kill, as I think the highest damage (outside of shotguns) is about 34, so 34 damage for first, another 34 for the second, and finally takes you over 100 for the third shot, therefore 2 headshots will finish the job. Also, burst firing is essential, unless you are really good at controlling recoil, and aiming down sights whilst firing does not have the same benefit as aiming down sights before firing.

Its hard- but so, so rewarding when it clicks. I think thats what seperates cod players from BF players, you dont get the same quick fix from BF that you do from COD, but where cod games are pretty much the same every time, no two BF games end up panning out the same. And K/D means fuck all in BF, if your team dont win, your skill rank doesn't go up (usually).

and finally - PTFO (play the fucking objective!)

I should be on this afty if you are around and wanna hook up. same tag as here. remind me what's yours?

Also a big fan of BF4 (although playing on PC). I can't speak highly enough of the obliteration game mode, it really forces teamplay and uses a lesser amount of vehicles, so it's more about the infantry based gameplay.

The latest DLC came out for premium members this week, contains a game mode called Chainlink which is also a lot of fun and again encourages teamplay and has reduced vehicles deployed.

Started MGS5 already played for an hour. Loving it.

Aaaand I'm done, 90 mins gameplay and I think about 30 mins cutscene. Gonna check out the side mission stuff later. Put it this way, I'm hugely excited about phantom pain now. Ground Zeroes looks great and plays brilliantly.

2nd edit: some issues need sorting before part 2 comes out though.

Anyone else hoping for a couple of WW2 shooters on next gen? They're the best games imo, COD2 and WAW was a load of fun on last gen. Would be interesting to see how a WW2 shooter would look in 1080p too. I'm starting to get bored of these futuristic shooters. I've been playing Titanfall a bit, I play it for a couple hours then I get bored. The community is shit and it's way too repetetive for me. I'm thinking of trading it in for Dead Rising 3.

Wolfenstein is class btw. It's only £32 on amazon so I'd reccommend you guys getting it if you haven't already. The campaign is a little on the short side though.

Shame there won't be a souped-up Saboteur 2 for the next gens.

Finally got my copy of Cod Ghosts but the update file is taking forever. First file that has taken longer than 10 minutes. Up to around an hour now.

Also thinking of getting New n Tasty: Abe's Oddesy but it's 18 quid. Hopefully it'll be worth it. I'm just interested to see how they've remade it.

The hype around halo is more than justified, bungie make solid games with incredible AI. Destiny, however - does not really fill me with enthusiasm any more. I dont know what it is, but it just doesnt seem like my kind of game. I am in france at the mo, so missed any opportunity at the beta, but what I have seen hasnt really floated my boat.

I'm more excited about the master chief collection tbh.

I had a blast on Destiny at the weekend, solid built, and like t8 said great AI. But for me it was just same old FPS over again, nothing to get excited over. I should say, im not a huge FPS fan.

I was happy with PS1 FPS - Doom, Exhumed, Alien Trilogy. I dont think they've really evolved, Exhumed was perfection. Gimme a remake of that.

Anyone know the best time to trade last years FIFA in? I noticed alot of places had deals for 10 quid or so off the new one on pre order but I missed the boat and when I got it FIFA 13 was only worth about 3 quid so wasn't really worth it.

I've never really traded in games before, but it sort of makes sense with the FIFA games really.

Some places do launch deals giving you £15 or so off to the new one if you trade the last one in. I never buy them until the price of the new one drops to below £20 though, and I don't get them every year, so I've never done it myself, just spoken to friends who do.
