NEXT GEN CONSOLES

Well the classic platformers are still great. The party games remain ace despite new versions being out. It's understandable, but the other main n64 titles hold up.

I find Super Mario 64 has lost a bit of magic, especially when I played it after the Banjo games but yeah alot of the N64 games stil remain great. The only other ones that comes to mind which feels flawed are Mario Kart 64, Turok (there's so much fog!) and Killer Instinct Gold.

*edit* Xena is rubbish now too but I think that it always was and it was just my love for the show that kept me playing it back in the day.

The ones in red are the ones you want, and certainly worth paying above average. The ones in blue should be avoided like, erm Episodes 1 through 3, though adding a few bucks for Empire @ War isn't a bad move.

(Republic Commando is still excellent even though it's set in "the Episodes" era)

I thought the first Force unleashed was supposed to be decent?

The $12 seems worth it still though and I always tend to put the chairty slider right up, so its for a good cause eithe way andr even if only end up liking a couple of those its decent value. (I think paypal had it around £8.90 when I paid for it.)

Don't get me wrong SS is a great game but there's alot of flaws with it, generally Zelda is too much of a critic's darling for it to not get the top best game ever spots.

Agree with that last point but I think most of them were saying that Twilight Princess should be there in its place. As I say I've hardly played it so can't offer an opinion of my own.

Second night on Twilight Princess and I'm stuck already in the village. Spent an hour trying to get that cat and then remembered somebody was making me a fishing rod. Ran all over trying to find the kid who said he'd make me the rod. Gave up in the end and looked online. i had to help his mother get a cradle back from a monkey by sending a hawk i attract the attention of by blowing on grass. Jeez!

Anyway, did that and got the Rod. It said something about bait but by this time I'm getting pissed off and skipping all the text just to crack on. Took the rod down to the lake and toss it in there only for it to bob up and down and the fish all just ignore it.

This is the beginning of the game for fuck sake! Not a good start for me to be honest. How do i catch that God dammed fish? Do i need the bait? If so where is it?

I thought you got a sword and fight in caves and stuff on Zelda, not go fishing. Fucking stupid cat. I'm guessing i need the fish to get the cat for that lady.

Here's a good Zelda site with a walkthough, just like real fishing you need patience xD

TBH as much as I love Zelda I would of chucked Super Mario Galaxy 2 or the Metroid Prime collection as the best Wii game.

the humble bundle is a great deal... have used it before in the past when they've had other sets on there (might have even been the weekly ones for the indie developers).

the force unleashed was a decent enough game, could have a few small complaints about it but not much else (had it on ps3) but not played the 2nd one.

Ah I never played Galaxy 2. Loved Galaxy 1 and heard that the sequel was even better, but by the time it came out I didn't play my Wii at all.

I don't have Metroid Prime trilogy but do have MP3. Didn't get very far through it; another game I meant to go back to. Wow I'm definitely gonna have to get the Wii back out.

Whilst the Wii did have a load of shitty shovelware it does boast some gems, if you see them cheap you should try Punch Out, Madworld, Xenoblade, No More Heroes, Sin & Punishment and The Last Story. They weren't big sellers due to it them not being Mario/party/fitness games but they are really good.

Yeah I had some great times on it - Twilight Princess, Galaxy, Battalion Wars, Monster Hunter, and of course fun things like Mario Kart and Smash Bros.

Also need to go back and finish Battalion Wars and Monster Hunter ffs. The downside to being a 15 year old who spends all his money on games and only plays them for 2 weeks. Still, handy now that I can't afford games!

I did it after watching a video on youtube. That is honestly ridiculous, how are you supposed to know what to do without it explaining?

If i had been playing that back when it came out I'd have given up right there.

Anyway i got the slingshot now. The game better pick up.

I've completed every Zelda game and games in general without a walkthrough xD

Just be grateful this isn't the NES era where games were actually hard and weren't explained to death, the 1st Zelda is evil.

Yeah i know about the series through the Angry Video Game Nerd, he's a fan but he gets mad at certain parts. Said he had to wait for Nintendo power to get through some parts.

I thought the first Force unleashed was supposed to be decent?

I think the user-rating on Metacritic (6.7 X360, 6.6 PS3) is fair. What made it even that high was the horrific dearth of other Star Wars games.

Battlefront, Republic Commando, Jedi Academy, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Starfighter, Knights of the Old Republic, The Sith Lords... the original Xbox had a glut of amazing Star Wars games.

Aside from Lego Star Wars what did the Xbox 360 get? Kinect SW? The abysmal Republic Heroes?

Ever see Eddie Murphy RAW? You start dating a "nice" girl and don't fuck her for months and when you do eventually have sex you think it's the best sex of your life. But a few shags in and you realise it was just your nuts at bursting point affecting your assessment. That's Force Unleashed that is, except instead of "best SW game ever" it got 6.7. And that's desperately high for what it is.

Quite the analogy!

I installed Battlefront II, been playing it for hours just on single player campaign/galactic conquest. Its just as good as I remembered it being, really need to get gameranger installed and get into some multiplayer games.

Using a 360 controller, with xpadder as it doesn't have native support on Windows so some controls can be a bit ropey and the graphics look quite tired but its just so much damn fun! Hope the new version lives up to it!

No.

I played the beta, it was awful, just not what I expect from BF

I absolutely love what I played of Hardline it's great. What about it that put you off?

I can remember people saying the same thing about BF3 when the demo/beta whatever got released for that because it was the Operation Metro map (no vehicles) and it got slated, but that turned out to be my favourite BF ever.

It could well be that, there were only 2 maps in the beta, both of which seemed like buildings placed with little thought to gameplay. A small number of players could easily dominate a map quickly if they knew what they were doing so rounds ended too quickly to be enjoyable. Both maps contained helicopters, neither seemed suited to them being there and the maps were so small that even the road vehicles seemed a pointless inclusion.

Maybe more maps with more thought rather than the beta version and it might be more enjoyable, but I didn't see anything that would inspire a purchase for myself & I loved BF4. If it comes up on origin on one of those free weekends I'll give it a try.

Rogue Legacy is great

I bought it for a couple of quid a few months ago and wasn't that inspired by it. The controls are far too "floaty" for my liking. And its just too dang hard!

I couldn't resist buying Grim Fandango Remastered. Some of the puzzles still had me stumped even though I have completed it a couple of times before.

Regarding Zelda games, my favourite is still A Link To The Past. Its the first one I ever played, and I only played it a few years ago. Its pretty much a perfect game. I really enjoyed the two DS titles Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks as well. I've never managed to complete any of the 3D ones. I think I've started Ocarina of Time 3 times, but never finished it.
