Just watched Airplane for the first time. Don't think I've ever laughed so much at a film before. Why didn't I see this earlier?!

Its an amazing film. Presume you've seen the naked gun movies?

Watch Police Squad next. Same writers. Low budget but very funny.

"We're sorry to bother you at such a time like this Mrs Twice. We would've come earlier but your husband wasn't dead then."

The World's End. Thank you. Loved it. Slightly disturbed I relate with Gary King quite so much, but it's definitely got me hankering for a monstrous pub crawl. And definitely gets a prize for best ever use of a Sisters of Mercy track in a film ever in the whole world ever.

Finally got around to watching Looper.

What a great movie!

Constant reminders and nods to Terminator in there (time travel, fate, the mother called Sarah, the significance of her child's future, her relationship with the protagonist, the mission of Willis' character and the arc of Gordon-Levitt's mirroring both Schwarzeneggar's and Michael Beihn's characters often at the same time) and yet it was re-jigged enough to tell its own interesting story.

In fact I'm pretty certain one of the 'Gat' guys plays a Terminator in the Sarah Conner TV series. Can't just be coincidence.

Pretty damn cool movie.

Yeah Garret Dillahunt was in both. Hadn't picked up on that (if intentional)

I'm really looking forward to seeing this. My local cinema is actually the Mermaid pub in the film!

Is it or is it not a rip off of Neon Genesis Evangelion?

Imo I wouldn't say it is, yeah they are big robots fighting crap with psycho babble thrown in but the mecha genre has been around for decades so unless it's completely different you can make comparisons with any number of cartoons and movies. Even Eva was considered a rip off of Ideon.

Eva is probably an influence since it is was one better/most famous mecha cartoons out there but at least it's not as bad as Aronofsky who had to buy the rights to Perfect Blue so he could make Requiem For A Dream and Black Swan.

Watched great gatsby, Behind the candelabra and spring breakers...

Behind the candelabra was superb, Great Gasby I was really looking forward to but quite disappointed. Spring breakers was bizarre, I couldn't work out if it was trying to be intelligent social commentary or just a film with loads of tits in it.

I like the aesthetic. I've no problem with a simple story told almost comic book style with scenes being heavily-dressed statics.

The trouble with OGF is nothing other than the obvious happens. The single strand of story that does exist has no depth and has nothing new or interesting to say, and there weren't any other layers that I could find - subplot, aesthetic, whatever.

It's just as not as interesting as that Twitter line makes it. Drive is the correct film to watch instead.

Went to see The World's End last night. Pretty good, but took a while to get going.

If you live anywhere near Letchworth, go and see it in the Broadway Cinema. You get a special message from Pegg, Frost and Wright at the start of the film, you get to watch the film in "The Mermaid" club, and its quite surreal walking out of the cinema and seeing some of the places you just saw in the movie!

It was nice to see this finally making an appearance in a film too
