Started (but didnt finish yet) Stanley Kubrick - A Life In Pictures.

Fascinating stuff, he really was the perfect storm of everything needed to be a great film maker. I am going to do a Kubrick marathon sometime very soon. I still havent seen Eyes Wide Shut yet, for shame.

Blue valentine - pretty much spot on in what happens in 99% of relationships :(

Just spotted this comment.. A bit surprised as the message I took away was don't put your dick in crazy no matter how hot she is.

I know what you mean but i mean more in terms of break downs in conversation, taking things the wrong way, contempt, that kind of thing. She was off the scale but when you learnt their history and how they got together it was a life thrown upon her that she never particularly wanted and obviously struggled through out. Not sure what she did want though because he was so good, at everything. But again, perhaps that was the issue for her and in my experience what happens in so many relationships...jealousy/resentment. It was really sad anyway, i thought.

We just watched Locke and whilst i enjoyed it I wanted more. I guess that was the point. I cant understand why ya Mrs wouldn't wanna watch it t8yman?

Yep really uncomfortable to watch and sticks in the mind, maybe because we've all either experienced or seen it in real life with friends where one member of a partnership are completely self destructive.

Its just not her "bag", I know she would have disliked it. She would have sat through it, but I know she would have said "meh" when the credits rolled.

The new Jungle Book movie is being called Jungle Book: Orgins  I really hope thats a working title as a pisstake.

Grim and gritty reboot, set in Chicago. Mowgli's parents were killed by the mob, Baghera is the one good cop in a police department full of dirty cops, Balloo is a heroine addict, King Louis is a drug lord, Kaa is a scheming crystal meth chef that wants a bigger slice of the action, Shere Khan is an effete public official who is also a predatory pedophile. Everybody dies horribly in the end.

Finished the Kubrick doc, it was superb. also watched the prestige - loved it, I have a very basic understanding of magic theory and the way magic tricks are pulled off, and it was really well done. All of the lead roles were great. Highly recommended.

Finally got round to seeing Guardians of The Galaxy at the weekend!!! Brilliant movie, it was a brilliant take from the few comics I read in the lead up. Great sound track and just a hole heap of fun.

Liked we finally got a comic book movie, that wasn't trying to be "realistic" or anything. (As fun as most of the MCU film, they try to be grounded/relateable a bit.)

Can't decide between Groot and Drax as my favourite characters.

No Ultron appearing in the end credits bit :( These are starting to get a bit meh!

Speaking of the MCU, someone has edited together a film from Thor, Avengers and Thor 2 that focuses on just Loki!

Great idea!, I've not watched yet mind! Loki: Brother of Thor: http://vimeo.com/104165262

  • 4 weeks later...

Past two nights I've tried watching Wanted, with James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie...Just can't seem to stick with it.Doesn't float my boat at all and McAvoy's American accent just puts me off.I'm not saying it's bad but just because I've seen him in lots of stuff it just throws me.

Watched Angela's Ashes though which I thought was a great film.

Loads of good stuff in the pictures at the moment, saw Pride last week and loved it, will probably see Riot Club this week, also hope to see Boxtrolls and 20,000 Days On Earth soon.

In the trailer section, this looks very entertaining.

And in DVD news, The Wind Rises came out yesterday, my favourite film of the year so far, I recommend it.

Turtles looks good! But then I was a big fan as a kid so I'm just really excited for it anyway.I saw the first Transformers on telly and was shit,I don't do Michael Bay films but Turtles movie I am hyped for.

I loved Turtles as a kid too, I even watched the 90's live action movie a few months ago and enjoyed it but this movie looks like the turtles-Hulk love children on steroids and if it follows the Transformers recipe (which considering they have even casted the same people from Transformers it looks likely) I've got zero hope for it.

Yeah they do look a bit weird but from what I've seen I'm hopeful. I like the comedy that I've seen so far and feels very much like it has the vibe of the live action films from days past which I still really rate.

I hope it has some semblance of a plot but for me I think it will just be a 'cinema' movie for me.I'm not taking it seriously but I don't want it to be shit.

Trailer for Tomorrowland

Directed by the almighty Brad Bird (of Incredibles fame), been looking forward to this for ages, thus far it's only been tantalizing paragraphs of text in magazines and on the internet, now it has a trailer, and it doesn't disappoint.

Need to see Gone Girl soon.

The new TMNT movie is... Weird. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. I really need to sit and think about this one. I love the TMNT, my next big tattoo will probably be a Turtles one, so I really wanted to like this but I went in with low expectations. They nailed Donatello. But everything else... I'm just not sure.
