Used to love that Hurricane Smith song as a youngster.

Not a tune I particularly like, so just for the link word, Mutants

The song i would have picked, couldn't find an old vid.

Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Episode-170

So the link word is Turtles with a happy sing along from 1967

And Flo and Eddie (who were the core of The Turtles as well as being serious musicians in their day) growing old disgracefully in later years.

Another shout for the French trumpeter of Turkish origins, Erik Truffaz. Prob my fav track from the album, Walk of the Giant Turtle.

Just a track, no live performance found unfortunately.

A live one with the lovely Sophie Hunger

And if anybody is really bored, Sophie Hunger in her own right. Went to see her on the back of that Truffaz track not really knowing what to expect, was blown away and even worse found out she'd been at Glastonbury the year before!

There used to be a wrestler by the name of Giant Haystacks.

So picking up on the hay bit this is Hayseed Dixie (always great fun) with Duelling Banjos and the link word is Dixie

It's a real bummer when you get into someone and then discover they'd played Glasto and you missed them, possibly because you weren't into them at the time.

Yes my grandma loved to watch wrestling. My childhood memories of passive smoking and poor quality colour on the TV, *sigh*

From Land to protest with Woody Guthrie's This Land is Your Land.

So to take the opposing view here's Foundation with No one Writes Protest Songs any More.

Seems a lot angrier than the Woody and Bob's original protest songs.

OK if we're having people doing other people's classics, here's Mr Petty and the Heartbreakers.

I've only once been to the IoW Festival (and never again but that's another story) but Mr P was there and did a storming set.

This isn't from the IoW but it's pretty good - and I love the jacket.

And the link word from Heart is Break

I actually got into Tom Petty in a roundabout way through the Traveling Wilburys. One of my favourite clips.....

Billie Holiday was such a powerful performer and doing such emotion packed songs that I couldn't possibly link to Cliff and Summer Holiday as it would lower the tone.

So instead another Holliday - Jennifer, (Holliday with 2 Ls) who was one of the stars of the Broadway musical Dream Girls. It was loosely based on the story of The Supremes and this is Jennifer's show stopper where she reacts to being told that she's being thrown out of the group and replaced by a younger, slimmer, singer.

And the link word is Telling or Tell

That Jennifer Holliday link, mighty impressive, BIG voice :)

So pushing could be regenarating & because I found an accordian player but couldn't find a live track, reminded me of this I caught a couple years ago, tenuous link I know but was pretty good live :) All the way from Finland - Regenerator

You don't make it easy do you Whisty?

But the classic example of regeneration has to be Dr Who, who has come back many times in different bodies.

This year's Glasto will feature a performance by the Radiophonic Workshop, who created the music and sounds for the series.

This might give you a taste of what you are in for.

And the link word is not radiophonic as that might be a bit narrow but Who

Oh dear, I'm getting old. First reaction to what was 'What you going to do about it?' by the Small Faces. So I dug out this clip to realise it's nearly 50 years old.

But they were part of the soundtrack of my youth and I still believe one of the most under-appreciated bands of their time. Yes, they were hugely popular at the time but history hasn't accorded them the place I feel they truly deserve.

The Small Faces and The Faces begat a member of The Who and a member of the Rolling Stones. So here are the Small Faces and the link word is Face

Dee-Light :)

I like a challenge Mr Hack. Goddess, Like the last album by Julia Holter, kind of hoping she gets a spot this year, not sure I'd pay a visit, I like mostly upbeat live stuff, but just be nice.

And something live because I know you care. This track pulled me right into the album, audio is bit poop, best listen to the recorded version I recckon.

Good morning pop pickers, I'm going to go from Goddess to GREEN.

During the last major fire strike I was actually tasked with driving a green goddess around the leafy lanes of Devon; brilliant fun but a pig to 3 point turn.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone :)

Not trying to be awkward but sometimes we need a challenge.

What goes with Green is Manalishi.

Brought to mind because I may well be hearing it performed tomorrow night as I'm off with my daughters to see Fleetwood Bac, a very good Mac tribute band,

The is the original and hugely talented Peter Green before his head, sadly, went bang.
