Thank you Oneeye. A chance to post one of my favourite singer-songwriters Harry Chapin. He wrote songs which he described as being about big moments in the lives of ordinary people and his best album is Short Stories.

From that album this is his best known song - possibly the only song of his that became widely known - WOLD.

This give you another taste.

Bread, another word for MONEY.

Always enjoyed this track, but came across this demo version with Pete Best.

Johny Cash has a track You are my Sunshine as I guess quite a few others do. But really like this one that heard yesterday which is worth 6 mins of anybodys time. He'll explain at the start of the vid but won't tell you a secret that makes no difference but puts a little different slant on things. The fact that people are getting to know him from watching vids as opposed to listening frustrates him a little. Nothing of this performance is visually based, all about music. Hope some people enjoy this superb performance..

Raul Midon is mighty impressive. As he says towards the end 'multi tasking'

My first thought with sunshine was Eric and Ern's theme song, which always brings a smile, so see what connections you can make to either Morecambe or Wise

Just to be a bit silly as today we're having party in the garden for my daughter's 30th, my mother in law's 91st and our neighbour's 75 birthdays, here's a song that just ask for a bit of fun.

And the link word is hundred

P.S. I've crept off from the party for five minutes peace and quiet.

I first got into this song in when it was first released in 1966. But seeing the Count Five forty years on doing the 'cabaret' version it seems a little less cool.

But from five we get to Psychotic which should give you something to play with.

I'll skip by Talking Heads, on to psychotic pig-headed POLITICIANS. Was John foreseeing UKIP, or just all of them?

Liar, liar, PANTS on fire. I vaguely remember Mr B, as I was mainly in my room reading in my yoof, instead of listening to music.

From the album with panties (oo er missus) in the title, accompanied by a hopefully recovering Wilko Johnson...

If pants are on fire they must be Hot pants.

Also an excuse to have a clip of the magnificent Mr Brown from what's still probably my all time favourite film The Blues Brothers.

The Godfather of Soul was played often throughout uni. Reminds me of France where I spent 2 years as part of my degree. Didn't avail myself of the culture as much as I should have, but enjoyed many CHIPS and wine, and heard many French singers, hence my indulgent 2nd link.

Thanks Mr hack. I see the light, I see the light!

Like the Francis Cabrel Carlosj. A bit of real French as opposed to translations of US/UK pop.

You tend to get chips with Everything.

This song was written by David Gates of Bread as a tribute to his late dad. It's also been widely covered since but I like this Ken Booth version (though I don't suppose Neil would consider it as 'proper' reggae).

This led me to Rhyme or Reason by Eminem but I couldn't bear to hear or post a classic song by the Zombies so mashed up.

So here are The Zombies still going strong with the Time of the Season

Hootie and the blowfish also sang about time, an excuse to post this.

Love this band, would be great if they turned up at Glastonbury one year :)

Taking the link to BAKER.

This is off an old box set I have, from Atlantic Records, 1947-1974 (I think those are the years).

Cracking voice.

There was only one Baker - Ginger

All sorts of music and interesting perspectives in this BBC Newsnight intterview.

I remember seeing him with the Graham Bond Organisation in the mid sixties at the Coal Exchange in Bristol. He was so out of it that he could hardly stand up and had to be carried on to the stage and sat on his stool propped up by a pillar behind him. The band came on and he sprang into life, drummed superbly for two hours and then had to be carried back off the stage at the end, still out of his head..
