grumpyhack
If you trade you tend to get a BILL If you want a bit of fun skiffle catch Railroad Bill (Bella's Bridge and The Bandstand). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVM1qOseQjA Filmed performing at Spillers Record Shop in Cardiff - said to be the world's oldest record shop, and where I used to queue for Glasto tickets in the the old days. grumpyhack
Solid Gold Easy Action The Glasto connection is that T Rex, or Tyrannosaurus Rex as they then were, were last minute replacement headliners for the first Glasto in 1970 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQ0oZLq689E
oneeye
Morning everyone, hope you're all bright eyed and bushy tailed on this sunny start to the day. Keeping with the glam theme, from action to SWEET; marvellous stuff
grumpyhack
One sweet you can get (though it's more of a cough drop) is a Fisherman's Friend. So here are Fisherman's Friends (Acoustic Friday) with a bit of finger in the ear folk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmE87g9li5c On the trivia note Brian Connelly, the lead singer with Sweet was fostered and the nephew of his foster father was Mark McManus, the actor who starred as Taggart in the Scottish TV crime series. (Some versions have them as half brothers - but apparently not so).

grumpyhack
Posting during half time with England 0-1 down. Professional made me think of this. Professional Foul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOFcQLUcx6k After the 2-1 final result perhaps Skinner and Baddiel need to remake this as "England's Coming Home." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJqimlFcJsM See you on Wednesday at the EFests meet. whisty
Make em fly home on sleazy jet! Smells - 2 many djs mashing up smells like teen spirit & Destinys Child. Much prefer Soulwax to 2many dj's, however what they're doing with the Despacio thing looks worth a stop and listen. A vid as they're dj's and not worth of watching And a Soulwax track, cant fund a decent live vid but this one is either funny or quite disturbing. grumpyhack
Smell reminds me of Portaloos. This was Banksy's installation - a recreation of Stonehenge out of Portaloos for 2007. So I'll go with the link word of Loo or Lou (Take your pick) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAfP5BMKgjc Like em or hate em, this is still for me one of the best live performances of all time U2 at Live Aid 85 with Walk On The Wild Side coming in at around 11 mins. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDNGlc_ypps Edited June 20, 2014 by grumpyhack
whisty
Gotta love that track ^^ whoever plays it Loo Paper Uniquetunes an 8 piece Russian Band who cross a few genres in this track. Think I like them because remind me of Red Snapper who they've supported out there whilst on tour.
grumpyhack
Paper Sun Originally a Steve Winwood/Traffic song but here performed by Paul Weller. Note Ray Cooper in the background on percussion. A man who's built a career on shaking a tambourine. (A bit harsh as he's really a fine drummer and percussionist). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WegzeabjXHY

whisty
Track is on The Beatles collection Past Masters 24 bit recording, the cleanest clinical recording you'll get of the Beatles I guess. Not 24 bit but sounds ok. Anyway the point is all being well the title of this song is how we'll all feel by Wed eve next week hopefully . grumpyhack
One of the great Al Stewart albums is Past, Present and Future, which includes this track, Roads to Moscow. Here being performed live with a 'volunteer' choir http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDy91DCQ8JI Al Stewart is also a really nice guy as well as being a great songwriter and a great arranger (love the lead guitar on this). Many of his songs have been on themes like war. He's also written a whole album on the theme of wine (he now earns a good living advising rich americans on how to stock their wine cellars). Lots of Glasto connections. He played at the first-ever Glastonbury Festival in 1970, knew Yoko Ono before she met John Lennon and shared a London flat with a young Paul Simon. But just for good measure here's probably his best known song Year of The Cat. Wonderful arrangements, everything from the tinkling piano intro to a superb sax solo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AazEMt0eoFg Edited June 21, 2014 by grumpyhack
